After Nikolai and Roland were done talking with the Elders, they packed up for the short journey home. They were halfway between the Castle and Midpoint so it would only take them a few hours ride. They did not have enough horses for everyone, however, having brought Roxanne here slumped over the back of one. Nikolai reached down and offered his hand to her, Roxanne taking it and letting him pull her up in front of him on the saddle.
“I could just as easily ride behind you, Alpha,” She said, sounding a bit perturbed.
“I much prefer being able to see you,” Nikolai replied, Pulling her closer to his chest.
