Nikolai awoke with a start, nearly screaming out Roxanne’s name. He looked around to try and gather his thoughts, realizing he was now on land. He could not exactly recall how he had gotten here. The last thing he remembered was the ship splitting apart and both Roxanne and Odette being torn away from him. Once he had hit the water, he swam with all his might in the direction they had fallen, having to dive under the waves.
