Andrea
Jada and I were both seventeen years old, and nothing out of the ordinary had happened since we made the game with the fake spell. I knew it was unlikely for anything to happen, but I still put the paper with the seven traits in my wallet. I had hopes that when I found my mate, he would have at least a few of those traits.
However, there is one odd thing about me. Wolves generally shifted on their fourteenth birthday, and they could find their mates on their eighteenth birthday. However, I was seventeen years old, and I still hadn't shifted.
I knew I was a wolf, because my wolf was in my head at all times. Her name is Rea. I think she gave herself the name, because it is what my mum always called me. Anytime anybody else tried to call me Rea, I would get mad and testily inform them, nobody is allowed to call me that, except for my bro Anton.
'Rea, why haven't I shifted yet?' I asked my wolf for the millionth time.
I could see her roll her eyes in my mind and I couldn't help but giggle. 'Andrea, you are special and for that reason, you won't shift until the time is right.'
'Rea, you always say this, but clearly there is nothing special about me. It's simply not possible,' I whined to her.
'I promise you will shift. It might be tomorrow or it might be in 10 years, but it will happen,' she assured me.
'Okay. I will try to keep being patient." I responded before I pushed her to the back of my mind and started getting ready for school. Despite feeling a little down about not shifting yet, I was in a relatively decent mood, and I refused to let it ruin my day.
After taking a shower and getting dressed, I pulled my hair back into the French braid I usually kept it in. When I started putting on my make-up, I couldn't find my biggest make-up brush. I glanced around for a few minutes, then I snapped my fingers and said "damn it" at the same time in total frustration. Instantly, my blush brush appeared in the palm of my other hand.
I was so stunned, I dropped the brush on the floor. My hands flew up to my mouth as a squeak made its way through my lips. I couldn't help but tremble a little. Out of nowhere, I heard Rea say, 'see, I told you. SPECIAL!' By the next second, she was gone as fast as she popped in my head.
I couldn't help but smile, as I finished my make-up. When I was done, I headed to meet my group of friends, who I was riding with to school.
6 months later
When little things kept happening, like the incident with the make-up brush, Rea recommended for me not tell anyone about these occurrences. I took her advice and kept them to myself. It was so hard to do, especially since I didn't know how I was making things randomly appear.
Rea would giggle at me and whisper 'SPECIAL' every time.
To say it was easy to not tell Jada about this, would be a total lie. Each time I wanted to run to her, but each time Rea would stop me. However, everything changed this particular morning. I had already finished doing my hair and make-up when I went to put my shoes on. However, they were not in my closet where I ordinarily kept them. I am a little OCD so when something is not in its place I tend to get a little flustered.
I walked out of my closet fuming and clapped my hands twice. As if on cue, my shoes appeared on the floor right in front of me. Of course, I squeaked like usual and heard Rea giggle and whisper 'special', but there they were. My favorite black and white converse sneakers.
Before I had a chance to get the second one on, Jada burst through my door all flustered. As soon as she saw me tying the shoelaces of the first sneaker, she gasped and took a step back. Her whole face turned pale before she stammered, "How- how did you get those back?"
I had no logical answer, so I gave her a little shrug and started putting the other shoe on.
"Seriously, Andrea, how in the hell is this possible?" she rambled as her voice rose another octave.
Instead of answering her question, I teasingly inquired, "Whatever do you mean? These are my shoes are they not?"
"But...but... they were on my feet. Tied and all, when out of nowhere, they vanished like poof, then I find you putting them on," she grumbled in exasperation. I couldn't help but to giggle at Jada, causing her eyes to turn into little slits as she growled, "What in the hell are you not telling me, and why are you keeping secrets from me?"
I had finished tying my shoes, so I stood and closed my bedroom door, then I sat back down on my bed. Jada stood rooted in the same spot, with one hand on her hip and the other clenched into a fist. I patted the bed beside me, and she reluctantly sat down.
I gazed into her pretty, violet eyes and mumbled, "I don't know how I did it. All I did was clap my hands in frustration after looking for them, and they magically appeared."
Jada thought about it for a second before her eyes went wide. "Is this the first time? If not how many times? Have there been any other weird things happening?" She bombarded me with questions asking them so fast, I didn't even have a second to think between the questions.
When she finally fell silent again, I calmly stated, "It has happened a few times, too many to count. I don't know how it happens, but I do know it only happens when I can't find something of mine that I really want at the moment."
"Why didn't you tell me? We tell each other everything!" she dramatically said.
I guiltily glanced down and replied, "I'm sorry Jada. Rea was very adamant about me not telling anybody about this, so please, please, please, do NOT tell anybody!"
She quickly pulled me into a hug and promised to keep my secret before she ran into my closet and grabbed my blue and white converse sneakers and put them on. Once we both had shoes on, we glanced at my alarm clock and immediately rushed out of my room, since we were now running late for school.
