Flossie and Valene are in the parlor waiting for Beulah and Willa to come down. Valene is telling Flossie that her parents will return home in two weeks. Reed isn’t enjoying listening to Jonathan bragging about how much he spent on something then turn around in the next sentence asking for money. Kitty is ready to come because Valene sent a telegram telling her she’s pregnant. Kitty sent a telegram telling Lars not to let her do too much. She’ll be home soon.
“Kitty has stayed away longer than any of us ever imagined she would. Congratulations on the baby.” Flossie looked at the two women peeping into the parlor and slowly entering.
Willa is trying to step behind Beulah, but the woman pulls her to the side of her.
