Ned has stopped drinking after Richard visited him a few days ago telling him to pull himself together and that he’s not setting a good example for his children. Nor is it fair to them since they’re so young and probably don’t know what’s happening. Richard inquired about Linda Jean's whereabouts. Ned didn’t know he only knew she left because Cort never showed any interest in her and when she asked him if did, he had feelings for her he told her that he was in love with someone else. Linda Jean didn’t take the rejection well and left. But he didn’t tell Richard that, he only said he didn’t know but would let him know if he or someone in the family heard from her.
