Early the following morning Qaletaqa, Treasure, and the others arrive about a mile outside of Yankton. Qaletaqa wanted Treasure to get some rest before they rode into town because he didn’t know what lay ahead of them. He has heard only a little about General Sullivan Hawkins. Some say he’s a fair man when it comes to Indians and others say he’s the same as the evil General that he killed years awhile back. If the General gives him or his family problems Qaletaqa has already decided to kill the man and his men. He looks over at his sleeping wife and chuckles looking at her hand on her little swollen belly.
