Richard and Big Horn were at Ned’s house early to speak with Nettie and Emma Jean. The girls denied shooting Mary Catherine and said they left right after Mr. Abbott, Mr. Daniel, and Mr. Tom. They ran when they heard the gunshot. Nettie said she thought she heard someone a few times, but a cat ran from under a wagon. Ned had no idea his daughters weren't home. He had worked in the field all day and after supper, he went to bed. He’s still having a hard time getting over the fact he married the woman that killed Eleanor.
