Sheriff Thompson and Deputy Floyd have been arguing since the Sheriff was informed that a message was sent to Fort Banks. The Sheriff rode out of town right after dark. Now he’s sitting around a campfire with six men. Two of the men are the Sheriff’s brothers Johnny Ray and Clyde the other four men are men they picked up along the way.
Clyde and Sheriff Dan Thompson argue because Clyde yells at him that he can’t do one lousy job. Now soldiers will come and that means the stagecoach with the gold on it will be heavily guarded instead of the four men that were already on the stagecoach.
