Raise by A Thief

Third POV Max walked slowly in the dark hallway. He paid attention to surround him. His target was the very end room at the hallway, where the safe was. He stopped when he hear footsteps from 2 door ahead him. There was only one way he would escape them. Opening any of this door and hoping that the room he enter was empty. He reached the nearest door, twisted the doorknop and open it slowly, to avoid any sound from the door. He took a peek a little, make sure no one in the room, and once he think it was empty, he moved fast inside that room. He heard 2 men talking about their job at the mansion. They stopped and talked in the hallway. Damn. He waited in the room, It was dark but his eyes getting used to. He looked around, there were table, couch and a bed. He was surprised to find someone on the bed staring at him. He can't see clearly who, but the person didn't moved or said a word. He pinch his eyes, and realize it was a girl. He walked closer, and shocked to found 2 girl tied in the bed. The first girl has an brown hair sit with hand and legs tied and her mouth covered with duck tape, her brown eyes staring at him with scare. The other girl had blonde hair. She was layed down and Max didn't know if the girl was unconcious or sleep, he looked worst than the first girl. He realized they were just a little girl, teenagers, maybe around 14-16 years old. Max walked closed to them. The girl who sat struggled to moved backward with her tied legs. She was scare and tried to scream. " I won't hurt you" max whispered afraid the men on the hallway can heard him. The girl stayed still in her place but she looked at him with caution, as if she was treated bad before. Or maybe because max wear a masked in his face. She only can see his brown eyes. What the hell these the girls doing here? And what monster did to them? Maximilian Davis asked him self. Max is a 35 years old thief, but he was not a killer. He never hurt any people, especially little girl like them. He looked bruises all over the girls faces, arms and legs, and they wore white dress that already ripped off in some places. Shit! What should he do? His plan was to steal that diamond necklace in the safe few door from here. Just took the necklace and left, his inside said to him. But his other inside told him to help them. " s**t! " he murmered " Why is this happening? " The girl tried to say something with her covered mouth, he can't heard her clearly, but he know she asked for help. She looked at him with hope looked. She was suffering and hurt. He walked to the door to check on the guards. The 2 men was not in the hallway anymore. How am I going to help them? He was coming by climbing down from the roof to the second floor. It was impossible for him to help them both. Especially with some guard on the house. The first girl might be able to walked. But the other one? s**t! This can't be right. He walked back to the girls. " Look, I have to leave you, but I will be back, okay? " he told the first girl. He knew he would not be able to help them, he had to lied. His plan was to get the necklace, get out of the house and call the police about those girl. The girl shake her head, asking not to be left behind. " Shit." he murmered again " Just calm down." he said when he heard someone else walking in the hall. He put his index finger in front of his mouth, he told the girl to be quite until the sound of footstep disappears. "I have to do something but I'll get you some help." he said. The girl widen her eyes, and tried to said something, begging not to be left behind. "I'll be back" he said then he left them. He twist the door handle slowly and took a peek on the dark corridor. Noone there. He take a looked at the girl and put his index finger in front of his mouth again, and then walked out and close the door behind him. He walked carefully to the very end room, trying not to make any sound. He twisted the doorknob in the very end room slowly and took a peek inside. It was dark and empty. He walked in and closed the door quietly. He turn on his head lamp and looked around for the safe box. "It has to be somewhere here." he murmered as he remember the blue print of the house Harry gave him. He observe the room to find the possible place where they put the safe. He walked to a tiger picture right behind a chair and found the safe box. Like he expected. It was his specialities to broke a safe box even with highest standar. He took off his backpack and open the zipper to take his tools. He put the stethoscope to hear the safe key number. He concentrate to hear the click sound on the stethoscope. First click, 17. Second click 30. Third click 45. The last click 60. Got it. The bolt open. There were money, some documents and 2 box inside the safe box. He didn't took the money. He grab the boxes out and open the first box. He didn't get what inside the first box. It was some bracelet, neclase, rings, but none of it were luxury. Just small personal things and Max didn't understand why there were many of them. He didn't interested to get to know further, so he closed the box. He open the second box. The diamond necklace that he had been looking for. He smile as he found his target and then he closed it and put it in his backpack. He put the other box back in the safe. He want to closed the safe box when he saw a flash disk with small writing. 'my little girls.' He don't know what it was, but as he remember the owner of the house didn't have any daughter. He know for sure, because the owner was a well know politician in the state. And then he remember those girls in the other room. He put everything back like it used to after he finally took the disk. He walked to the door planned to got out of the house when he heard 2 men walked approaching and talking in the hallway. He stayed quite waiting for those men to pass and heard their conversation. " Where are we going bro?" the first man said. " Boss told us to disposed the last week girl" the other man said. " Did you bring the shovel?" the first man asked. " Ya. In my car" the other man said. Then the sound of door opened and closed. "s**t! They are going to killed the girls." Max said to him self. There were nothing he can do. He can't fight those 2 men without make a scene. And If he helped the girls, they will found out about him and the necklace that he steal. He twisted the doorknob and opened the door slightly, but he stoped when he heard the door in the other room opened again. Then the 2 men steped on the hallway heavily as if they carried heavy thing. He took a peek and saw them carried the blonde girl passing the room where max hide. Then they stepped down the stairs without noticing max presence. He got out of the room once he make sure there were Noone in the hallway. He wanted to go back to where he come, to the room where he put his rope to the roof. He passed the room where he saw the girls and stopped for a while. He was confuse what to do. His conscious said to help the girl, but the other conscious said he should walked away. So he walked away and went to his entrance earlier. He Took the rope he had been hiding for and prepare him self to climbed up. "s**t! I can't do this!" he said in a low tone. He murmer as he go back to the room and open the door. He saw The girl with brown hair still tied in the bed. He walked in the room quietly and closed the door behind him. The girls looked at him. She looked so scare and shocked. She would had scream if she didn't have the duck tape on her mouth. "It's okay." max told her. The girl recognize him and calm a little bit. She tried to say something to max. "I'm going to open your mouth, but you have to calm down" he said to the girl. The girl nodded. Max took off the duck tape. "Help me please, help me" the girl asked him. She is crying. " They killed her" the girl cried. She was in shock. She probably saw what the 2 men did with the other girl. " You have to calm down. I cant help you if you like this." Max said as he covered the girl mouth with his hand. She looked at him, and then she nodded. She started to calm down. " Can you walked?" he asked her. " Yes." she answer in between her sobbing. Max open the robe in her wrist and her ankle. " Stay here" he said. He looked around, and observed if there was a way out he can take the girl with him. He looked at the window and looked outside. He could broke the window, and they still have to walked along the roof shield outside before they both can reach the ground through wood trellis on the wall. But he needed a distraction, to gave him and the girls time to get out and escape. The window in the room connect to the alarm system. If he broke them, they will found out. He had to broke another window far away from where he stand right now. He walked back to the girl. " what's your name?" he asked the girls " Julie" she said still sobbing. " Julie, I need you to calm down and wait here. I had to make distraction, Okay? Can you do that?" he asked her. She nodded. He left her in the room, as he quietly get out of the room, walked to the window in the very end. He took a small explosive he made for emergency. He put the explosive in the window glass and set the timer. 5 minutes. It should be enough for him to get to the room, and prepare before it explode and make a scene. He turned the timer on in the explosive and in his watch. And then he walked back to the room. He took a chair in the room, and put it near the window. " I want you to followed me quietly. Don't scream. There will be explosion. Cover your ear." he said. Julie nodded, and covered her ear. He looked at his watch and it started to Cound down in 10 second.. He took the chair and stand by, waiting for the explosion outside. His planned was to break the window in the room right after the explosion outside to cover the breaking sound of the glass and to disguise their location. Because alarm will only locate the first location break, it was the explosion. 3...2..1... And then the sound of explosive outside the room. He break the window in the room right after the explosive explode. " Let's go, follow me" he told Julie to walked outside of the broken window after he cleaned the window from glass scratch. She walked first, then max. Max passed her outside, and hold her hand to followed him walked in the roof quietly. Max hear a lot of footstep on the hallway to the explosive scene. They keep walking until they reach the trellis. Julie slipped out, but max caugh her. There was a guard down the roof where they stranded. Max told julie to stayed quite while he hold Julie's hand and wait until the guard got inside the house. It was crowded in the house, and no one found them yet. But max know it was only a matter of time before they found the broken window in the room and found them if they don't move soon. The guard finally went inside the house, and Max picked Julie right away, and help her get down the trellis. They reach the ground in time when a man shout at them from the broken window in the room they just escaped. "It's them!! Go catch them! " the man said to other guys in the room. " Go! Run!" Max told Julie to run and followed him. They run to the road, a few house in the neighbourhood where max parked his car. They reached the car, and saw some men chase them, still in long distance. They still had chance to escape. "s**t. Get in the car" she told Julie to go inside the back seat in the car. Max got inside the driver seat and start the engine, then pushed the gas pedal right away, leaving the guys from the house behind. Max open his mask he'd been wearing, and put on his hood. They passed the police car heading to the house they just left. " Get down" he told Julie to hide in the back seat. He drove for 10 minutes before he parked his car in a hidden garage. " What happen man? Why you trigger the alarm?" Harry asked him once he halt the car and step outside. Max ignored him and open his back sit and let Julie out. " What the hell!!" Harry shout in surprised. " I'll tell you later." max said as he helped Julie walked and put her in a room. He gave her blanket to cover her body and he made her a warm tea for her as she shaking hard. " You stayed her. You'll be save." max said to her. She nodded. Max stand up and about to go outside, but Julie hold his hand. " Thank you." she said. Max nodded. Max went outside and talked to Harry. " What the hell are you doing man? Why you have a girl with you? " he asked him. " they are going to kill her Harry" Max explained him. " The girl is from the house?" Harry asked him again. Surprised that Max brought the girl from the house he just robbed. " Yes, they tied her and killed the other girl" Max told him. " Can you just walked away? It's supposed to none of your business max! ." Harry said. " I might be a thief, but I'm not a killer! She would be death if I left her there." Max told him in high tone. " Damn Max! all you have to do just take the necklace and go" Harry said lift his hand in the air. " She is just a little girl Harry, how am I supposed to leave her? Looked what they did to her!" max told him as he depend on his action. Harry hold his forehead with his fingers and exhale. " Max..." Harry said in lower tone. " You know they will looking out for you and her. You know who you'll be dealing with?" Harry asked him " Yeah, just a f*****g politician! " he said " Well, he is a powerful politician, if you forget max! " Harry talked about the owner of the house they just robbed " And he just a f*****g sick monster did that to little girl like her! " max told Harry, his finger pointing to Julie. Harry raise his hand as if he gave up. They both silent. " Okay, anyone saw your face? Recognize who you are? " Harry asked max after awhile. " No. But they saw the car." he answer " Okay, I will get someone take care the car. " Harry said. " Great" Max replied. " Where is the necklace? " Harry asked him Max took his backpack in the car and gave Harry the box. Harry opened the box to check on the diamond necklace. He close the box and put it in his bag. " You need to hide for awhile. " Harry said. " I know. " max answer. " What are you going to do with her." Harry asked him looking at the Julie's direction. Max looked at Julie from the window room where he put Julie in. " I don't know man." he said. Max was confused. He know he can't took Julie to the police station. They will asked her about him. Max didn't want the police to know about him, because he was there in the house to steal a diamond necklace, he was a criminal, against the law. " Let me talked to her first. " Max said as he walked to Julie's direction. " I won't be long Max, better decide fast! " Harry said. " Damn Max! can you mind your own business?! " Harry muttered. Max hear it, but he keep walking. Max walked into Julie's room. " Hey," he said to Julie gently. Julie looked at him. " What happen to you? Why they tied you like that?" he asked her. She still hold the warm tea Max gave her earlier. " They... Kidnap me. " she said with her welled eyes. She could cried any second. " It's okay. You are save now. What's your full name? Do you know where your parents?" " Julie Monroe. My parent died in car accident." she said " I'm sorry." Max apologize." Where do you live?" " I.. Live with my foster parent.." she said looking at Max. " But.... I don't want to go back there. They will find me. They know who I am. " she said in scare. " And... And.. my foster parent, they dont care about me. " she said. " Do you have any other family? " max asked her She shook her head. Max exhaled. " Can you... Take me with you? Please.. I don't know where to go." she begged him. " Julie... I'm..." max about to say that he is an outlaw, a criminal. She won't be safe if she go with him. " please... I will do anything you told me. I can work. I just don't want to go back there. They... Killed the other girl..they drugged her." she said and she started to cried again. She remember how they drug her and she shaking hard until she wasn't moving anymore. Max hold his forehead with his hands. He feel sorry for her, but he don't know if he can took her with him or not. It was to risky. But he know he can't let Julie go by her self. If they caught her, hey will torture her or even killed her like the other girl and asked her to get to him and the necklace he just stoled. He walked to the closed, and took a t-shirt, a short and a towel. " Go get your self clean up. I will take a look on your bruises later." he said as he gave her clothes and the towel. " the bathroom is there" max pointed the bathroom outside the room. She took the clothes and the towel max gave her and walked outside the room and go straight to the bathroom. Max went to Harry. " I need to move out town Harry, you take care the car. I'll be off for awhile." he said to Harry. Harry exhaled. " Okay, I hope you know what you are doing. I'll transfer your p*****t in few hours." Harry said. Then he turned around and make a phone call. He left the garage after awhile. Max wait until Julie finished her shower. he think he had no other option except to bring Julie with him. " Come here. Let me see your bruises. " he said to Julie when he saw her walking out the bathroom. He asked her to sat on a chair. Julie took the chair. Max holded Julie's chin and looked at her bruises in her temple, under eye, chin and cheeks. " How old are you?" he asked her. " 15" she answered. " Who did this to you?" he asked her again Her eyes teary. " A man. He... He had scar on his temple" she said. "Do you know what is his name?" Max asked her again. Max know who's house it was, but he just want to make sure. she shook her head. " They call him boss. They drug me on my way from school" she said. Max looked at her sad face, then he looked down at her hands, and legs. " What else did he did to you?" Max asked her again " He.. He... Did that to me... He force me.. " she can't said the word what the man did to her. Tears dropped in her cheeks and she cried. That bastard! Max cursed the man who did this to her. Max know that she had been raped just by seeing the girls appearance when he found her. " I'm sorry" Max said to Julie. She still cried, remembering what the man did to her. Max gave her tissue, he don't know what to do. " Do you have anything hurt, or any injured? Pain?" max asked her when she calm down a little. She nodded. " They did something.. In my back" she said sobbing as she holding her lower back. " Can I take a look?" max asked her permission. She nodded. She stood up gave Max access to looked at her pain. Max lift her t-shirt a little bit and looked at the direction her hand pointed. He lower her short a little bit, and shocked at what he saw. " f*****g monster!" he cursed who ever did this to her and hit the wall near him. He saw a burn like a stamp in her lower back. It was round with the XS letter in the middle. " Did he burn you?" he asked her. She didn't answer but nodded, still dropping her tears. " I hope he burn in hell!" he said as he felt so angry, that there were people will do such things. " Listen Julie, if you want to come with me, than you must listen every words I told you." he said. And she nodded. " I'll listen to you max. Please don't leave me" she said still crying. Max exhaled. " Get rest now, and put this on your bruises" he said as he gave Julie some cream. " And drink this. This will make you feel better" he said giving Julie painkiller. He was sure she was in pain by looking at her injures. " Thank you" she said then she walked to the room where max put her earlier.
