Grant showed up at the Slave Pen alone and walked around the tables to the front.
He saw Max talking to someone and walked up to him. “Good afternoon, Max.”
Max turned and said, “Ah, good afternoon, Grant. Take a seat. I’ll be with you in a moment.” After finishing his conversation, he walked over to where Grant was and sat down. “Where’s this lover you told me about this morning?”
“He’s…he left me.”
“He left? Why?”
“It’s complicated.”
“I think I warned you against that. Did you love him?”
“How do I know? We only spent one night together.”
