Chapter 4
After what had just happened on the stage, Jonathan felt an unbearable anger inside him. He couldn't believe these men had actually the courage to put him into a marriage without his consent!
Pretending to date someone was one thing, but engagement? Marriage? It all crossed boundaries far beyond what he could handle.
... However, what made him even angrier was noticing the new expression on Erica's face amid the whole situation...
The woman had a more than perfect posture, head held high with her nose standing tall in a powerful way with such news, showing that she clearly already knew about it.
"You already knew about it, didn't you?'' Sternly glancing at her, Jonathan asked between his teeth, flashing a smile at the media, which was by far the last thing he would want to be doing then.
''It's complicated, but I can explain... Later.'' Being equally nervous about the whole situation since it had been entirely different from what they had told her, Erica answered him with a smile, just as fake as him, stamped on her face.
"I can't wait to hear your side of this whole story.'' With an arm around her waist, the CEO went on to say... Feeling a huge urge to punch every single person at this party due to his growing anger.
" Have some faith in me, boy. I only discovered how filth it was a few minutes ago before you." Pretending to look at him sweetly, the woman completed, placing a hand on Jonathan's chest. "I had told him that this whole thing would be a bad idea if he did it all at once, so we had a good plan to follow that he clearly threw out by the window.''
And in a whisper that the young man could barely hear because of all the noises and questions around them, she finished saying before Maximillian brought all the media back to him.
"See what I am saying? It's practically impossible to separate these two." Amid a laugh as fake as his words, the man commented to the reporters, who soon insisted on taking a few more pictures of the couple, as if they didn't already have hundreds of them.
... And in a bonding moment that the couple had no idea was happening, both Jonathan and Erica thought of how much they just wanted the shareholder to shut the f**k up...
The young CEO finally grew tired of being in the spotlight for so long for the first time in a long time due to something that wasn't even his interest besides being pure lies.
So, trying to think of some excuse that could get him out of there as quickly as possible, he failed in that, despite his genius mind, ending up with him merely leading Erica off the stage with him.
... The woman was completely confused about what he was doing, but still, she followed him in complete silence...
"Jo- Sir, where are you going?" His secretary wasted no time asking him this in a more polite way than usual when Jonathan left Erica with him.
"I need to go to the bathroom. So, please escort Miss LeBlac to her car. I believe tonight's party is over for her as well." Without letting his eyes meet the beautiful woman's, the CEO finished saying to Marcus, soon heading in the opposite direction that was the actual bathroom of the ballroom since he wished only to remain alone with his thoughts for a moment...
... After all, it was imminent that paparazzi would follow him constantly now, even more than before, no mattering he was just want to go to the bathroom as he had told the older man or something else...
But, thanks to his luck, it wasn't the first time Jonathan went to an event in that big mansion that always surprised him every single time.
Sneaking into a hallway that many wouldn't dare to follow due to the red stripes that indicated the place was off limits, the man followed it until its end as if the venue belonged to him.
And when he reached two doors, the one on the right was the one that was soon closed behind him before his gaze met his reflection in the vintage-like mirror.
... Taking a deep breath, cold water trickled down his face in one of his attempts to calm down his thoughts when something else caught his attention through the mirror...
Feeling much calmer now, he went to the window, seeing what appeared to be the branch of a nearby tree, which ended up giving him a terrible idea.
''...You know what? I never wanted to come to this party in the first place...''
Jonathan just wanted to leave the event at once, but of course, he couldn't follow the plans of his mind as he wanted to.
... He was far from being the athletic type, so something like jumping on that branch to escape was just impossible for him, thus making him decide to pursue a more simple option.
He messed up his perfectly groomed hair and removed his suit without caring about leaving it there before grabbing the first tray he saw on his way back to the ballroom.
... Keeping his head down all the time, he moved through the crowd, pretending to be collecting the empty cups before leaving the party quietly after checking that no one had noticed or followed him...
"To Mastermind tower through the longest route possible to follow." Saying the ironic name of the building where he lived, the CEO was happy to have gotten a cab without a delay since some late guests were still arriving for the ominous occasion.
... As his journey progressed, the man noted then that the forecasted rain had finally begun, and it was a heavy one... The kind that made many consider themselves lucky to have a roof over their heads...
Yet, Jonathan couldn't stop himself from admiring that neon-filled city covered by water during that moment.
... It was a rather relaxing sight for him to see all those signs creating a contrast with the rain, that being one of those times when just the sound of the rain was enough to make him feel grateful to be alive...
He was practically at home, just a few minutes away, when the slow traffic made his mind travel to the alleys he had never paid attention to in his neighborhood... And his eyes soon met with something strange amidst the pile of garbage.
... Something that definitely shouldn't be there, and could even be evidence of a crime if someone stopped to think about it...
''Stop... Stop the vehicle now!'' Giving the order to the cab, Jonathan didn't even wait for it to park before getting out, but not without forgetting to give another order to the transport A.I... ''Stay here. I'll be back in a minute.''
Hastening his steps, he quickly came across what had caught his attention from afar, leaving him both shocked and amazed at the same time...
The figure lying there before him was an android. Her model was difficult to define without getting to her system first.
However, what caught Jonathan's attention the most was how despite the dark hair tied up in a messy ponytail and the completely dirty pearly skin, the robot appeared to be relatively new.
... Without any reason why someone would throw away such an expensive purchase by what he could tell by her joints that seemed to be in good condition as well...
Thinking twice, he no longer had any reason to stay there, seeing how she wasn't what he had assumed a few minutes ago.
But when his eyes finally went to Android's face, something made him become even more attached to the machine, who he knew very well had no feelings and must not even know what had happened to her.
... Yet, it was a useless thought as something inside him didn't let him leave just like that before he looked again at the beautiful face that reminded him of angel-like features... Causing him to quickly finish wrapping her up in the old sheet, which was already around her body, to take her back to the cab with him amidst the rain that was beginning to pour down once more.
