Prologue
Sky City was a mega-metropolis with a broad range of people living their lives, as usual, every single day without caring about anything else... Some dealt with more struggles than others, but it was a thing anyone could find anywhere else.
And among those who had a such easy life... A young CEO of a large technology company felt the world hadn't much meaning anymore.
… Jonathan Starless was known for his incredible intelligence regarding technology-related matters, being far superior to all the men and women who had the same position as him.
However, it has also earned him the reputation that perhaps because he had spent so much time with the cold machines, he had become one of them as well…
His green eyes reflected no emotion when he didn't talk about his passion and work.
The fair-skin barely knew what sunlight was since he spent most of his time in his office or apartment, away from all the strangers who yearned to meet him.
… Pretty much the thirty-two-year-old figure was a complete mystery, just like his messy brown hair…
That despite its messiness still able to attract the sighs of thousands of ladies and gentlemen throughout Sky City, even if his secretary couldn't understand how.
And although Jonathan lived his life away from the eyes of most of society, he was still known as another wealthy playboy that loved to waste his money in the most luxurious places that could exist, to lure women into his bed at the end of the day... And how was this even possible?
Well, the answer was a very simple one... As the man seldom made eye contact with anyone when he went out in public, the media loved to play up his image and theories of the people who followed him online to the extent that his company would not allow and not tarnish their name and stock.
... Rumors about him sold very fast as people wanted to find out from which brand was his expensive suits and watches from last generation AI to what color his eyes were supposed to be, creating occasionally illegal bets online where it was said that the CEO had replaced his eyeballs with cybernetic implants in order to control his company from wherever he was...
But of course, this was far from reality when the greens like the leaves of a tree in springtime opened up again as his alarm clock rang and the curtains opened, allowing sunlight into his room even if he didn't want it.
... That had been something programmed by his secretary, and there wasn't much he could do about it if he didn't want to get a new one as Marcus threatened to quit if he turned it off and got up late once more for work, losing another meeting...
“Shut up, damn thing…”
Grumpy as an older man, he muttered while turning off the alarm before sitting up in bed, staying that way for a few seconds before getting into his routine... Which started with waking up in a massive room with gray walls, a luxurious king-size bed with the best blankets and pillows, and a holographic TV of the best quality to watch whenever he wanted to... Even if it was something that rarely happened.
"Why is he here this earlier?"
Wearing his watch before getting out of bed, Jonathan eventually commented as he heard the doorbell.
"What does he want with me already? I have more than enough time before I go to the office, and they start annoying me... What do you want?"
Looking at the intercom monitor, the CEO didn't sound any pleasant with the idea of opening the door for the older man waiting for him outside.
"I came to help you with your schedule for today, sir." However, it didn't intimidate his Secretary at all... Maybe because he was already used to it or perhaps, due to the fact, he was bigger than his boss.
He could be older now, but Marcus' muscles were still there as in the past when his tanned skin, a gift from his Latin ancestry of Italian origin, made it even better for all the girls who fall in love with him.
But back to the present, as his brown eyes watched the poorly dressed man as he entered the apartment, the Secretary ran a hand over his bald head as he thought that he needed to find someone for Jonathan soon.
A girlfriend would be good, but a fiancée would be even better. He could already hear how happy the shareholders would be because of all the publicity the company would gain if the media heard that the most eligible bachelor had someone now.
