Rain POV
Caleb’s strong arms finally enveloped me as his strength returned, their warmth bringing me comfort as he lifted me effortlessly from the chair. We quickly got dressed back into our clothing so we could get prepared. Caleb turned to examine the surveillance monitor, I could hear the faint hum of the machinery filling the room. The demons still roamed in the forest. Yet, there was no signs of reinforcements joining them.
I made my way towards the door, but Caleb halted me, concern etching lines on his face. His eyes searched mine as he asked, "Will you reach out to Barys once we leave the safety of the barrier to confront the enemy?" His worry was evident, a mix of happiness for my reunion with Barys and the underlying fear of potential consequences.
