Chapter Twenty-Four Erik sat at the table in the crew quarters, glowering at the wall with all the baleful rage he could muster. After everything he’d been through, he’d thought he’d scraped together a good set of allies. People he could trust as he went after the conspiracy and avenged his men, but now he wasn’t sure who he could trust and who might be plotting behind his back. Lanara stepped out of the cockpit and nodded to Erik. “Alina’s not responding, but I got hold of the colonel.” Despite not knowing Lanara for that long, Erik trusted her. It wasn’t that he thought she was all that loyal to him, but she lacked the necessary guile to deceive him long-term.
