There Ghost My Everything

The year 2020 Cassandra is smiling while walking towards her boyfriend Herdon. Herdon is always waiting for her outside their campus until she is done with her class. They are both college students taking different courses but in the same year level-third year college. Cassandra is taking education while Herdon is taking a journalism course. "We are going. Talk to you tomorrow," Herdon said to Gerry, one of the security guards in their school. The guard just nodded to Herdon. "You are close to him now, hmm?" Cassandra said before she wrapped her arms around Herdon. "Ah, yes. He's the one I'm talking to always while waiting for you," Herdon answered. "Did your class schedule change? You are always earlier than me," Cassandra said while looking at the road they're walking on. "Nope," a very short answer from Herdon. Cassandra looked at him as if she's waiting for Herdon to speak more. "It just happened that one of my professors dismissed us early," Herdon said smiling at her. **** Cassandra looked outside their classroom when she heard some footsteps running in the hallway. "What's happening?" one of her classmates asked. Some of her classmates went out to follow those students running and Cassandra also did out of curiosity. She found herself outside the principal's office and there she saw three male students crying. "What's the matter?" Cassandra asked one of the students beside her. "They were caught using drugs inside the girl's comfort room," the student answered. From outside, the voice of the principal could be heard as she was asking the three students where they are getting drugs. Cassandra was about to leave when her phone rings. "Hello," she answered. "C-Cassandra..." her heart beats fast when she heard Herdon's trembling voice. "Why? Where are you?" She tried to remain calm thinking that Herdon is just tired. "Cassandra, I'm sorry," Herdon said whimpers. And then Cassandra froze when Herdon started to open up. Herdon confessed that he is involved in selling drugs inside the campus. Cassandra turned to the principal's office when she saw the principal come out. She hurriedly went to the window of the principal's office and called out the three students inside. When none of the students came near her, she pulled out all the money inside her wallet and waved it to them. That's when one of them approached her. "Do not mention Herdon's name. I will give you enough money and will try my best to help you guys, just don't mention his name," she said firmly. The student smiled and nodded before he returned to his companions. Cassandra stays away from the window before the principal comes back. Then she immediately called Herdon. "You will not be in trouble, just stay still," she said to Herdon. Before the day ends, rumors spread that one of the security guards was involved in drug-peddling. Gerry's name was mentioned that he was the one who's selling drugs. But before the police could catch Gerry, he already disappeared. Cassandra meets Herdon at night outside their house. "I'm sorry," Herdon's eyes were swollen for crying the whole day. "Why?" Cassandra asked with a little disappointment on her face. She loves Herdon so much that's why she tried her best to help him. "I am not attending my class anymore. I decided to stop because my mother could not provide money for my tuition fees. That's why you always find me outside the campus waiting for you very early," explained Herdon. "And Gerry was the one who encouraged you to sell drugs inside the campus?" Cassandra asked. Herdon just nodded. "But you used it too, why?" Cassandra's heart was about to explode because of the anger she's feeling. "I w-wasn't able to say no. I need to get along with them..." Herdon said as he wiped the tears on his eyes. In just a minute, Cassandra's heart softens. She really loves Herdon that she cannot bear seeing him in that situation. "I will help you. You will continue attending your class," Cassandra said in a soft voice now. "No, Cassandra. This is too much. I'll just—" "Just promise me that starting this day, no more secrets," Cassandra said cutting him off. "Did we hear it right, Cassandra? What came to your mind, huh?" Herdon and Cassandra were shocked when they saw Mr. and Mrs. Lopez, Cassandra's parents. "Stop this stupidity, Cassandra. He's one of the drug addicts and yet you still want to continue your relationship with him? And worse you will allow him to use your money?" says Mr. Lopez angrily. "Oh, c'mon dad, what's wrong with helping the one you love? Didn't mom help you before when you were also in trouble? When one of our maids sued you for attempted rape? Didn't mom use all the money she had just to help you?" Cassandra angrily said reminding her dad of his misdeed. "Cassandra!" Mrs. Lopez exclaimed. "You know that's not true, Cassandra. You knew that. Most of all, you know that I will not do such a thing. I am your father, you know me," Mr. Lopez said looking at her eyes directly. "Then same with Herdon," Cassandra replied and she turned to Herdon, "go home. I'll see you tomorrow at school." As Cassandra walked inside their house, Herdon politely said goodbye to Cassandra's parents and then he left. Mr. and Mrs. Lopez hurriedly went inside their house and tried to talk to their daughter. But Cassandra already locked the door of her room. Cassandra's parents weren't able to stop her from helping Herdon. They kept mum and let Cassandra do what she wants. And months later, before Cassandra and Herdon graduated, Herdon proposed to Cassandra. Cassandra happily said yes because she was so sure that she wants to spend the rest of her life with Herdon. Cassandra's parents could not do anything to stop her. Instead, they asked Herdon to undergo drug rehabilitation first before they get married. Cassandra did not agree with her parents but Herdon willingly acceded. Moreover, Mr. and Mrs. Lopez asked Herdon to make and sign a pre-nuptial agreement with Cassandra after his drug rehabilitation. Herdon agreed as he wants to make it up with Cassandra. Besides, he wants to win the trust of his future in-laws. And on April twenty-nine two thousand and twenty-two, Herdon and Cassandra got married.
