Chapter 1 ☆ One Wrong Move
Delores Jackson
"Then we'll get married and have lots and lots of kids. I want to have five kids." Alvin said.
"What? That's too much. I want only two boys, as handsome as their father." I said and he laughed.
"If I get rich someday, I'll throw a much bigger engagement party for us and our wedding would be so grand." Alvin bragged as I laid in his arms.
"I don't care the size of the wedding what's important is that we get married." I said kissing him.
"Yes but since your twin sister is marrying a rich bag, I also need to give you the same benefits." Alvin pouted and I nodded.
I suddenly stood up when I saw that it was late and my twin's engagement was about to start soon.
"Come on, you know I have to go. Tonight's my sister's engagement and I can't miss it." I whined when Alvin was holding me close to him and nibbling my neck.
"Oh! Stay for a while, Delores. We'll go later." Alvin groaned.
We continued to caress behind Jordan's house and I turned and kissed him fully on his lips.
Jordan was my sister's fiancé and we were at his house.
"I wish we could also have our own engagement like this. I can't wait to become your wife." I said in between the kisses and he smiled.
"Our time will come, Delores. We'll make it and you'll soon become my wife and I will be able to love you forever." He said, spinning me around.
I laughed heartily and once he placed me down, I pulled him inside.
We were laughing and talking as he accompanied me to the guest room so I could change only for me to meet my mother weeping in the guest room.
I looked around for my sister, hoping to see her dressed in her beautiful dress but she she wasn't around and mother was crying.
"Mother, what's wrong?" I let Alvin's hand go and ran to mother. She was holding a paper.
"Your sister is gone again, Delores. Your sister is gone." She cried and I gawked.
"Where has she gone again?"
Mother handed me the letter and a read through.
Delores,
If you're reading this, then it means it's too late. I'm already on my way to Alaska. Remember the musical show I wanted to attend so badly, well I got the letter a few days ago and when I asked for Jordan's opinion, he said no so I have taken matters into my own hands. I'm leaving for a few months and I want you to replace me for tonight and get an excuse for Jordan, I don't know but replace me on my engagement day and that's all. I'll keep in touch too so hurry up. Please don't let him notice. Don't let him know I'm gone."
Delilah.
I gawked at the letter.
"Is she asking for a replacement again?" Alvin asked grabbing the letter and reading through.
"No way, Delores. I won't allow you to do that. You need to tell Jordan that his bride is gone and that he needs to call off this engagement." Alvin spat.
"It's for her own sister's benefit. This is the only thing you can do to save this family, Delores. It's nothing too hard. Just replace her just for tonight."
I didn't know what to do. I stood there so confused.
Why did Delilah leave me just like that?
How can I replace her on her engagement? This is the most important aspect of her life and she wants me to replace her?
"She'll be greatly disappointed if you don't do this, Delores. Just say it so we can get you ready. Everyone is waiting downstairs for you." Mother said.
I had to do this. Jordan Lancaster is our family's benefactor. He had been supporting my mother ever since she got ill and if we were to go downstairs and tell him and his family that Delilah run away then we'll lose all the supporting benefits.
"Delores. Please don't do it."
"Alvin, I'm sorry but I have to. Only for tonight. Okay." I cupped his cheeks and I could tell he was really fuming on the inside but he had to bite everything back and nod.
"Don't let him touch you, Delores. You need to stand to your ground because you are mine." He said huskily and kissed me softly on my lips.
I watched him leave and close the door behind him.
I broke into tears.
"You need to get yourself together and let's get you ready." Mother helped me and took me to the bathroom.
I took a bath and came out. Mother was choosing a dress for me.
I quickly changed and she did my make up before she took a black wig and helped me place it on.
Delilah was a brunette and I was blonde. We were identical twins with different hair color which was really peculiar.
"You look beautiful tonight dear and thanks so much for being there for your sister. She'll remember this." Mother assured me and I smiled.
I looked at my reflection and saw how I had suddenly resembled my sister.
Mother with a satisfied grin led me downstairs and I saw Jordan pacing back and forth in our large hall with guests filling the room.
He hardly knows me and I doubt he'd be able to notice that his wife is gone and I've been replacing Delilah for some time and he has never gotten the hint.
When his eyes fell on me, he smiled and everyone applauded.
My eyes searched the room for Alvin who stood in a corner, with an angry expression and i felt bad but there was little I could do.
Jordan met me half way and took my hand.
"You always make everyone jealous of me, Delilah." He whispered.
I almost corrected him but I bit my tongue and smiled, looking down.
The party started and everything went well. We chatted and he introduced me to so many people.
His mother was so jovial and I liked her already.
"My mother likes you too much and I'm jealous. She never cracks jokes to anyone." Jordan commented when we were excused for a while.
I smiled and shrugged. Alvin was keeping an eye on us and I was also looking out for him.
"Where is your sister, Delores?" Jordan suddenly asked and my gaze shot to meet his long stare.
"Huh?"
"Yes you heard me. Where is your sister? Where is my fiancée? Where is Delilah?"
