AMELIA As the princess had said, a second meeting was called two days after the first: the autopsy had been performed and the royals had new information for us. News of the monster had spread like wildfire among the Red Bloods: although my parents and I had tried hard not to cause alarm, we couldn't stop people from talking. Not that it took much to put two and two together: if the Alpha said that patrols were suspended and a curfew had been instituted and at the same time news began to circulate that a member of the Royal Guard had died under mysterious circumstances and that another was in serious condition, people began to speculate - and they were rarely far from the truth. Eventually, of course, we'd been forced to tell the truth: yes, there was a foreign creature in the woods. N
