1747 Words
Jade P.O.V ----------------           As Jade waited for her family to get back she just decided to get her economics binder organized. While she was getting organized she thought it would take her forever. So she played a little music for time's sake. 'happy llama, sad llama, mentally disturbed.' Jade sang to herself. She loved Twaimz. He was a good artist that she admired. She finally got done organizing her stuff. She looked at the clock to see that it has only been 30 minutes that have passed. How time was going slow. She reached for her laundry basket hoping that would give her something to do, but she remembered she had already done her laundry. She went downstairs to see if anyone else was home, but not a living soul. It was just her, and Ben. Never would she have thought that this would happen to her. Life moves on, so she decides to go get a piece of cake. She sits down in the living room picking an episode of Doctor Who to watch. She picks The Asylum of The Darlaeks. Once she got done eating her cake she heard Ben come downstairs. Freaking out she just acts like she didn't know he was there. "Hey Jade, what are you watching?" Ben asked her. She swallows the last bite of her strawberry cake before answering. "Doctor Who, The Asylum of The Darlaeks." He nodded his head and carried on his way to the kitchen. Jade watched as he was getting something to drink. She looked away when he caught her eye. By the time she got done watching doctor who, and he was done unpacking the rest of the family finally got home. "BEN THEY ARE HERE!" Jade yelled. Soon enough he was downstairs. As soon as her brother and mother were in they looked guilty. "Hey, honey!" Her mother said. Her brother just waved and went up to his room leaving just the three of them. "Mom would you like to explain the matter at hand!? On way, I thought we were being robbed when I found out it was just my teacher." Jade looked sideways at her mother. Her mother laughed. Then she saw that Jade was serious." Well, hun, this is our new neighbor, but the house he is planning on moving in is decaying. So since we are friends with him, and well heard his story I offered him a place here to stay until the house gets fixed. I'm sorry we didn't tell you. We just forgot." Her mother answered Jade with an apologetic smile. " Besides look at it this way now you don't have to ride the bus anymore, and if you need help you can ask him." With that, her mother put her hands on her shoulder and went upstairs to her room. Jade tried to catch her mouth from flying open once her mother had said that. She failed. Once she calmed down she was shocked. How could her family forget to tell her something like this? It's like they didn't even know she existed anymore. With that, she glared at Ben and went to her room. At the same time, he just ignored her or was watching her leave upstairs. She just carried on. She went to her brother's room to try, and get some answers on Ben from him. Once she did the only words that she got from him were. "If you wanna know so badly just ask him yourself. Your old enough in a year you will be an adult." Joshua told her. Instead of Jade keeping her calm, and walking away. She told him at least she wasn't a grown man that lives with his mother, and little sister! With that, she ran out of the room and went to hers locking the door behind her. She knew she messed up. Jade didn't know why she said that to him. She knew his situation was complicated, and she just said hurtful things. Maybe it was because she was hurt. She didn't know, but now she feels bad. They may have forgotten about her, but that was her brother who had always been there for her. Instead of dwelling in her room pouting all night. She went to go take a shower it was 9:35. So she figured she had time. In the house, everyone had their own bathroom. So she didn't have to worry about taking turns or waiting for someone. She went to go get her PJs, and slippers from her closet. She grabbed her towel and started to walk into the bathroom. She set her water and jumped in. After her shower, she blow-dried her hair, put her long-sleeved T-shirt on with her shorts she used as PJ, and put her hair in a sloppy bun. As soon as she was done her mother called everyone down for dinner. Her mother had cooked mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, and fried chicken from KFC. Everyone had made their plate and sat at the kitchen table since Ben was new here. Everyone was in awkward silence. " So Ben I hear you work as a teacher. What do you teach?" Her mother asked. 'oh great' Jade thought. "Advanced Economics," Ben replied to Jade's mother. Wow, Jade was really regretting her life choices right now to ever have economics. Even if she hadn't would they still have been in this situation? From time to time they would talk. At the dinner table, it was quiet. Jade saw that Ben had looked her way from time to time. She couldn't deny that she looked his way herself to. 'Now would be a great time for revenge.' Jade thought. She reached her leg over to Ben's lap letting her toe travel up to his knee, and back down. In the meanwhile he just acted like nothing was happening. 'damn it' Jade cursed herself. There was no reaction. Ben has a very good mask. She noted to herself. Jade thought he had deserved it for all the trouble he has been for her today. Ben Brooks had made an enemy of her on his first day of meeting her. First, he starts it at school, and now he somehow appears in her personal life. Just exactly what was he trying to get at here? After everyone was done eating, and she saw it had little to no effect on him she quit. "Now Ben why don't you help Jade clean up tonight that would help show you where everything is." It was more as a statement than a question. " Yes Mrs.Edens. Also thank you for dinner, and for understanding my situation. Have a goodnight." Ben told Beth Jade's mother. As soon as everyone was in their beds it left just her, and Ben Brooks in the kitchen to clean up tonight's dinner. '' Well like she said-." Jade was interrupted by Brooks who was in front of her. "What are you trying to do Jade?" He asked her. She looked at him confused even though she knew exactly what he was talking about. "I don't know what you mean. The very top cabinet to the right is where the cups are, we use the dishwasher, and the utensils go in here." Jade informed him. He looked at Jade and smirked while he looked like he was trying to figure her out. " See I think you do know what I'm talking about. What's your point of doing this Ms.Edens?" She just pointed things out, and where they were supposed to go. All the while she was also doing the major work while showing where Everything is located. " I got it from here." He told her. She nodded her head and watched him work just in case he had a question about anything. When he was done he just looked at her with an expressionless face not saying a word. " I will see you in the morning." With that, he walked off and went to Joshua's room. Ben Brooks P.O.V ----------------------------      At dinner, I could swap a glimpse of Jade only when she wasn't looking. Of course, I wouldn't want to make it obvious. Joshua and Jade's mother would ask me questions about my job, and what I did for hobbies. I could tell she was quite impressed with the department I worked in. Sure I was just a teacher, but I taught advanced classes. I caught Jade look at me from time to time. She was a curious person, and that made me wonder more about her. Soon in the middle of dinner, I felt Jade play footsies with me. What was she doing? I dared not show any emotion because I then realized that this was her way of getting back at me. She was flirting. She was good, but she was going to have to do better. I couldn't deny she had made a little move in my heart, but it's gonna take a lot more to get me going. I couldn't do this because she was my student, but I couldn't help the way she was looking at me. After dinner, her mother told Jade to show me around. This was the perfect chance to kind of talked to her personally, and not professionally. For an odd reason, It felt like my name coming out of her mouth sounded good. " What are you trying to do Jade?" I asked her. She stiffened, but soon relax. Surely she didn't think I would not notice. She tried to deny it. I knew we both know where this was heading at least I did. Just from the start, I knew she was going to lead into trouble. As soon as we got done cleaning up dinner we split up. I went to Joshua's room to go to bed. Joshua's room was spacey, clean, one big fancy bunk bed, had a flat-screen TV, two closets, and the wallpaper was just a plain color with carpet. I was wearing a T-shirt with plaid PJ pants ready to go to bed. I made sure I had finished preparing for tomorrow's lesson. I think I will just do what I did yesterday to Jade that will show her how it is properly done to get under someone's skin. I went to go brush my teeth. Once I was done I wished Joshua goodnight and went to sleep with the thought of tomorrow stuck in my head.
