Joel leaned against his car as he waited for Piper to get home. Scout was investigating the fence line, smelling every new plant Piper had recently planted. Glancing at his watch, Joel wondered what was keeping her; she should have been right behind him. Just as he was about to call her, he saw Piper"s car coming down the quiet road towards her house. As he walked towards her car door, Joel caught a glimpse of Piper"s face. She looked like she was upset about something. Reaching out to open the door for her, he noticed the dirty handprints on the doorframe, and immediately he knew why she was upset. No, it wasn"t the dirt on her car; it was the man whose handprints had put it there. And it didn"t take a genius to realize Piper had found the gardener. Or rather the gardener found her. "
