After the tour of the Pack, Xander took me back to our house.
Our house
It seems so foreign. But over the tour, I realized that Xander was not my enemy, he might not be my friend, but the enemy was a very heavy word.
He helped me when nobody did, he saved me from hell and gave me another chance at life.
It doesn’t matter he did that for his own benefit, but still, he helped me despite the hatred he held for my father and for my pack.
When we entered the living room, I noticed that the house was empty.
No servants were there.
Smart people. They knew when to give us privacy and when to disturb us. I smiled.
Considering all the good aspects of Xander, I decided to extend an olive branch to him.
But before I could utter a single word, ignoring me he headed upstairs toward our room.
I followed him, meanwhile, he started losing his shirt.
When I entered the room with him, I eyed his bare torso. His well defined muscles were gleaming because of the sweat, making his scent more sweeter.
Lana whined in happiness.
“Xander,” I began but stopped seeing his back muscles flexing, I cleared my throat. “So I was thinking, that maybe we should try to find a common ground. I don’t want to fight with you. We should try to coexist, maybe not as mates but as partners.” My voice was steady but was a little raspy.
Xander halted in his tracks, and turned toward me, shock registering on his face. He had clearly not expected this change in my attitude. His piercing gaze bore into mine, searching for the motive behind my sudden shift.
“Oh fu*k..” I hissed under my breath seeing this hulk of a man, standing bare chested in front of me.
"What brought about this change of heart?" he asked, his tone cautious.
I unconsciously took a step toward him, hesitantly I replied “Because we have to spend two years together, what good it would be if we keep on fighting and always have to look behind our back, afraid when the other will attack? And secondly, I want you to win. Rumors of our conflict won't be favorable for your Alpha King campaign, and I believe it's in both our interests to avoid unnecessary friction.”
And I want to touch you, Lana whispered in my mind.
Xander nodded slowly, his expression thoughtful. He couldn't deny the political implications of our situation. A divisive rivalry between us would only weaken his chances of securing the coveted title of Alpha King.
"I agree," he finally said. "Peaceful coexistence is a more rational approach."
My eyes roamed hungrily at his body, and I gulped.
I didn’t notice that he was looking at me, he smirked and took a step forward.
“Wanna touch,” he drawled, and startled I took a step back.
He barked a laugh at me, and all the blood rushed to my cheeks.
He shook his head laughing and I just wanted to crawl into a hole and die in shame.
"By the way," he said, "tomorrow is the full moon, and the Silver Moon Pack will be holding a Luna ceremony. It's a significant event for our pack, and I plan to mark you during the ceremony."
I felt a flutter of surprise and anticipation. The Luna ceremony was a sacred tradition among wolf packs, a symbol of unity and commitment. It was a powerful gesture that would bind us together in a way that transcended words.
I noticed his eyes roaming at my neck where he would mark me and goosebumps scattered on my body.
He noticed my nervousness, smiled, and left toward the bathroom.
I waited for my turn, and when he exited the bathroom, I entered ignoring his intense stare.
I changed into my nightdress and came out. Fully expected him to leave the room for me.
And colour me surprised, when I found him sprawled on the king-sized bed, as if it all belonged to him.
Okay, it did, but still.
I folded my hands on my chest and cleared my throat, his eyes landed on my breasts, which were elevated because of the power move.
I cursed myself and now I couldn’t even remove my hands.
“What?” he drawled while looking at me up and down.
“I want to sleep,” I said.
“Come,” he raised his arms, welcoming me.
I rolled my eyes at him.
“I want to sleep on the bed, don’t kick me out. The couch was so unforgettable last night.” he said while standing up.
“Okay, you can take the bed then. I’ll take the couch.” I said and turned, but he held my wrist and dragged me back toward him.
I wasn’t able to control my feet and landed in his arms.
My heart thundered in my chest, and I couldn't help but feel nervous, yet strangely excited, being this close to him. The scent of his skin and the warmth of his body enveloped me, making my head spin with a heady mix of emotions.
"Xander," I whispered, my voice barely audible, my eyes locked with his.
“You don’t have to take the couch.” He said while drawing me closer as if there was some distance between us.
“Please..” I begged, unsure of what I was begging for. Maybe wanted him to leave me, or touch me more.
I wasn’t sure.
In that moment, the world around us faded into insignificance. It was just him and me, caught in an unspoken tension that crackled with intensity. His touch sent shivers down my spine, the only warmth I needed was his.
“There is a room. You don’t have to take the couch.” He said, still in his arms, he turned and what I thought was a locked cupboard, was actually a magnificent room.
The whole room spoke of brilliance, it was lighted in the soft glow of the chandelier and I was mesmerized by it.
“Wow.” I once again was stupified by Xander’s grand house.
“My grandmother thought of this. She knew that during an argument Luna needed her own space so she designed this space.” he took me inside, and swiftly placed me on the bed as if he was afraid, I would break.
“According to the tradition, we can’t spend the night together before the mating ceremony. So you can have this room.” he smiled at me, and I returned his.
We found a common ground and I was happy with him.
He closed the door before leaving, and I thought about the mating ceremony.
But before I could think much, my phone rang.
My blood ran cold when I saw the name flashing across my phone.
