Edward brought the Lincoln Navigator to a slow stop but didn’t dare turn off the engine. His protective instinct was so high he could barely bring his hands to release the steering wheel. Every bone in his body demanded that he drove them out of there. His foot twitched, ready to put the pedal to the floor. Nothing felt good about where they were and he couldn’t imagine this is where Trey was being held. They were in a part of the city where hope and dreams had long abandoned the streets, and anyone or anything still breathing in the place. Each side of the narrow tarred road they had driven into was lined with dilapidated buildings.
