CHAPTER 9

CHAPTER NINE

The atmosphere was sharp and bright, it made Oliver's worries lessen but not perish. Life has not been easy for Oliver but he always has a way of feeling better especially when his grandma needs him.

Oliver's mind drifted back to the incident that took place the other day, if not for Alyana he wondered what would have happened to his Grandma and that is why he is so grateful to Alyana.

Smiling to himself, he remembered how Alyana was shy when he helped her dress her bruised knee and ankle. He was slowly falling in love with her and he also hoped she would feel the same way towards him.

He was back from buying drugs for his grandma, he had told one of the neighbors to watch over her before he came back. He announced that he was back but got no response, which surprised him.

"Miss Cynthia, Nanay, I aback". Oliver announced again but regardless got no reply still.

He moved around but saw no traces of Miss Cynthia so he walked to Nanay's room and saw she was lying down. He moved closer to her to adjust her blanket when he noticed her temperature was high.

"Nanay, Nanay answer me". He let out tapping her but got no reply which scared him. He quickly ran out to hail a taxi, when he finally got one he ran inside and held her in his hand and he entered the taxi quickly.

"To the closest hospital please sir". Oliver said Nervously looking at his Nanay whose eyes were still closed.

"Nanay please don't leave me, I can't leave without you". Oliver whispered in tears.

Immediately they got to the hospital, Oliver paid the taxi man and ran into the hospital.

"Please help me, my grandma lost consciousness, please save her". Oliver cried out feeling helpless.

"Sir, calm down please, what happened to her". One of the nurses asked.

"I just got back from getting her drugs when I found her unconsciously lying on her bed and quickly rushed her here". Oliver explained looking at his grandma who looked lifeless.

"Okay sir, just calm down, we will take it from here. Leave her to us". The nurse said before leaving to call the doctor. After some minutes Oliver was called to the doctor's office to explain to him why his grandma collapsed.

"Good Day doctor, please tell me what is wrong with my grandma. I hope it's not critical, I can't bear to lose her". Oliver explained in tears.

"Calm down sir, it's nothing serious, I hope you know your grandma's diabetes has gotten worst and her glucose level has increased because a lot of blood vessels in her kidney are damaged and her ability to filter blood normally is reduced". The doctor asked looking at the distressed Oliver.

"I know all this doctor, just tell me the condition my grandma is in". Oliver asked.

"Okay sir, your grandma has lost consciousness due to these complications and needs to undergo treatment quickly to avoid further difficulties". The doctor explained.

"Okay doctor, please do everything to save my grandma". Oliver said pleading.

"No problem at all sir, we will do our best". The doctor answered back.

After Oliver left the doctor's office, he moved to where to pay his grandma's medical bills. When he had completed the p*****t, he went to the room his grandma was admitted to. Entering the room and seeing a drip attached to his grandma's hand made his legs weak.

He moved towards her bed with tears welling up in his eyes. Staring at her, he adjusted her blanket.

"I am so sorry Nanay if I had stayed with you, I am sure nothing like this would have happened, mother left you in my care and I have failed her. Nanay, please wake up I can't lose you". Oliver said in tears.

An hour later, Oliver left the hospital after telling one of the nurses to watch over his Nanay before he gets back. Oliver got on his bike and headed to the company to speak to Alyana.

When he got to the company, he asked for Alyana but was told she just stepped out but will be back soon, he was told to wait if he could for her arrival. Oliver decided to wait for her but unfortunately for him, Violet noticed him and quickly walked up to him.

"Oliver darling, I heard your grandma was rushed to the hospital, is her condition getting worse". She asked with concern.

"Don't mind me, Violet, I am not here for you, and don't be concerned about my grandma, we will be fine". Oliver replied without glancing at her which hurt Violet but she masked it with a smile.

"I know you need money Oliver and I am willing to give you any amount you need, just get back on board and help me with my plan to ruin Alyana and you won't have to worry about money.", Violet said.

"This won't work on me Violet, I have told you, I don't want to be part of your plan to ruin Alyana". Oliver said, looking anywhere but her.

"Where do you plan on getting the money for the hospital bills.". Violet said leaving.

"There are thousands of ways to make money without hurting anyone

" Oliver replied, sickened by Violet.

"You will need me soon," Violet replied before walking away angrily.

Oliver was so glad she left because her presence irks him so much.

After 30 minutes of waiting, Alyana was back in the company. She was on her way to her office when Oliver approached her.

"Alyana". He called out hurrying to meet her.

"Oliver what are you doing here, I am surprised to see you here". She said, looking at him.

"Alyana I am sorry this might sound like a bother but I need your help. Nanay was rushed to the hospital today and needs to be treated urgently. I don't have enough money for her bills and she needs to be treated instantly. If you could lend me some money I promise to pay you back as soon as possible". Oliver explained to Alyana.

"Oh Oliver, I am so sorry to hear this. How is Nanay's health?". Alyana asked, bringing out a checkbook from her bag.

"She is better now but the doctor advised that she should be treated now to avoid further difficulties". Oliver explained.

Alyana signed on a check and passed it to Oliver." I hope this will be enough to treat Nanay". She said,

"This is too much Alyana, I don't know how to thank you but I promise to pay you back as soon as possible". Oliver said, thanking Alyana.

"I know you will Oliver, just take your time," Alyana replied.

Unknowingly for Alyana, Mr. Edmund was watching Her as she issued the check to Oliver. He walked up to them and cleared his throat to be noticed.

Alyana, who was shocked, turned and saw her papa standing behind her.

"Papa you scared me, I thought you had a meeting outside the office". She asked, looking at her papa.

"Yes dear, I did and I am just coming back now. Who is this young man close to you dear?". Mr. Edmund asked looking at Oliver

"Papa this is the chocolatier I have been telling you about, Oliver Rodriguez and Oliver meet my papa the CEO of TOUCH OF LOVE". Alyana said, introducing them to one another.

"It's nice to finally meet the chocolatier Alyana has been bragging about". Mr.Edmund said smiling at Oliver.

"It was nice meeting you sir and Alyana, I have to get going now before my grandma wakes up, thank you so much for this". He said before leaving.

"No problem Oliver, my regards to Nanay, and I wish her a speedy recovery". Alyana said, earning a look from her dad.

"Dear, I saw you issuing a check to that young man". Mr.Edmund asked

"Yes dad, his grandma was admitted to a hospital and needs to be treated quickly". Alyana explained to her dad.

"Don't be Naive Alyana, men love to take advantage of good women like you, you better be careful around him". Mr. Edmund said, looking at Alyana with care.

"Don't worry papa, Oliver is not like that and I promise to be careful. Excuse me, papa, I have things to attend to". She said before leaving her papa's side.

Mr. Edmund was left speechless by his naive daughter. He just hoped what he was thinking was wrong.
