CHAPTER FIVE “I’m gonna need to call a doctor,” she said, placing the big cast-iron pot carefully upon the stovetop. “You’ve done admirably so far,” he said from inside the bedroom, propped up by every pillow she had. “What’s the matter,” sensing something in his tone, “you don’t want to get fixed?” She swung around and stared at him across the tiny cabin room. “Of course I wanna get fixed.” “Well then.” “I just thought if I could lay up for a couple more days, I´d be fine.” “Fine you may be, but a doctor would know that for sure. That hole in your chest was deep, and the other one is all puckering up.” “You packed it with some stuff, didn’t you? Weird stuff.” “I did, yes, but it smells, and I need to get it all cleaned out proper.” Collapsing his head back into the pillows, he b
