Chapter 1: An Alpha's Kiss

2227 Words
Delia The heavy wooden doors swung open with such a force that I felt compelled to dig in my heeled feet, lest the force of the wind blew me away. And then how would I marry Logan? The thum thum beat of my heart quickened again, as his name crossed my mind for the millionth time today. I'd tried so hard not to think about him, but each time, I only survived about three minutes without thinking of him. This time I'd almost survived five, but the traitorous thought of him still slipped through the cracks of my heart which has always been Logan's. Always been for him. Years before he'd come to mate with me. Or rather your sister. I swallowed, shoving the nasty little voice in my head away. Nothing is allowed to ruin my mating ceremony. "Dennis? Come on now, everyone's waiting." Looking into my father's eyes, I tried to see if they betrayed any emotion at calling me by my sisters name and not mine. Did the fact that we had the same face as twins make it that easy for him? His eyes were a clear blue, the twinkle in them telling me I was right. Father wasn't feeling any regrets or worries at our charade. It sort of stung a bit, but I was determined not to be angsty or afraid as well. I'd gotten the chance every girl dreamed of handed to me on a silver platter, I was marrying the man I'd loved since I was a little girl, and getting called by a name that was not mine was the least of what could deter me. A genuine smile curled my lips as I placed my palm in my father's open one, and we stepped into the Great Hall together. There was a loud shuffle of feet as the entire hall stood up, offering me a token of respect that stunned me, but was not totally unexpected. Logan was the most powerful Alpha in all of New York, and the hall was full of dignitaries that had come here for him. And I was to be his Luna. I trembled slightly, and my father's grip on my hand tightened as he shot me a warning look, covered by the smile on his lips. But I knew that look. It was one he often used to warn me if I was stepping out of my confined space. A watery smile slid over my lips, as I couldn't help the strong feeling of worry that washed over me.   A fraud. We walked down the aisle, between the rows and rows of powerful Wolf's that graced the occasion. I reminded myself repeatedly, I was mating getting mated to Logan. All of my worries dissolved when my eyes fell on Logan, standing at the end of the aisle, facing the aisle we had just walked down to meet him. He was wearing a charcoal suit tailored to perfection. He stood with feet slightly apart, tall and unwavering. I was still bewildered that he'd wanted to marry my sister. Someone like him married people far better than us. His golden eyes were fixed on me, with a look that made the butterflies in my tummy flutter hard. I smiled back at him, as my father took my hand and placed it in his, muttering a few words of greetings to him, before leaving us to go stand beside my mother. I had no idea which row they were seated at, my eyes all for Logan. With my hands firmly in his, we climbed up on the dais and Logan helped me into a throne chair, as he took the larger one beside me. The pack elders converged around us, bearing the Luna's crown. My eyes kept being compelled back to Logan, becoming Luna was just the side attraction, becoming Logan's mate was really all I wanted. He caught me staring and smiled, making a blush creep up my cheeks as I looked away, pretending to focus on the crown. The elder with the crown started the mating vows, chanting words that binded me to Logan. My heartbeat rose with each word. Logan leaned in and pressed a kiss to my lips. My heart beat even faster. Soft and just a whisper of his lips on mine, the kiss felt stolen. By midnight tonight, I would be Logan's mate, forever. ~ I could hear a steady drip, drip sound, and I wondered if it was raining. Had I fallen asleep and left my windows open again? My eyes slid open even though the tiredness threatened to shut them again. The room was all creamy white. Pristine, with tones of creamy brown curtains. This isn't my room. I turned my head to find the source of the drip drip sound that had slipped into my dreams. "Good morning, Luna. I'm sorry if I woke you up, I was just serving your coffee." I stared at the white tray, with a tea cup and white tea kettle in her hands which she was pouring from. The confusion must have shown on my face because she rushed to explain. "Oh, my name is Brenda, I've been given the honor of serving you, my Luna, and making sure all your needs are met." I blinked. Still lost. "I'm getting a maid? Why do I need a maid?" She laughed and the sound fluttered all around us. She looked like she was only a little older than me. Maybe in her mid twenties. "You're Alpha Logan's mate and the Luna of the Blue Crescent pack, of course you get a maid." Logan! My heart skipped multiple beats as I remembered the mating ceremony, and the fact that I was now mated to the love of my life. Dear Goddess. I turned to the other side of the king sized bed and found it empty. "You were so tired yesterday you fell asleep immediately after the reception. Alpha Logan is already at the council meeting with the pack elders." "What? What time is it?" "A little past eleven, Luna." I sat up, crawling fast to the edge of the bed. "You should have woken me up or something, I'm supposed to be with him there." "No, no, Alpha Logan understands that yesterday's activities tired you. He ordered that you stay in bed and rest up, Luna." I had to find a way to tell her to stop with the Luna nonsense, I was already having enough trouble answering to Dennis now, and she wanted to tack on Luna. And why did she have that sly smile on her face? "You must have been tired out by our Alpha. It's normal for newly mated ladies to feel that way the first few days. Being mated to a full formed wolf is no easy task, talk more of being mated to one who has an Alpha's strength." She smiled conspiratorially, and my eyes went wide at her meaning. She thought we'd already consummated our mating. My cheeks burned as I slid off the bed, straightening out my thin white night dress and keeping my eyes away from Brenda. I cleared my throat. "So, if I'm not needed at the council meeting, what should I do?" "I'll get you dressed and then show you around the grounds. There's also the entire pack waiting to meet you, but that would be after the council meeting." I took the cup of coffee from her and took an appreciative sip, feeling the warm burn of the liquid run down my throat. I'd never been served by any one in my life, or even had my needs catered to with such attention. It felt nice, but I was also uncomfortable. Her hands went to the zipper of my nightdress and I pulled away, stepping away from her. "Umm, it's okay, Brenda. I can get myself ready." "But, Luna—" "Please call me Del…Dennis. This Luna thing is giving me a headache, it'll take a while getting used to it." "Well, better start now then. I can't call you by your name." She left immediately after that pronouncement, entering one of the adjoining rooms in the suite. I followed, curious to see the rest of the suite I would share with my mate now. I'd really collapsed yesterday night, I didn't even remember a lot asides entering the bedroom and falling asleep waiting for Logan. I'd thought we'd finally have s*x last night, but maybe he wanted me to rest. Sweet. I smiled, peering into the next room. It was a huge bathroom, double the size of our living room back home. The tub was a mini pool, beckoning me for a dip. I stepped in and a coldness enveloped me, the chill making me shiver. White, just like the bedroom, with granite countertops. A large tub sat at the other end, with the shower stall in the middle and the toilet which was closed off at the other end. It looked more like a spa. Brenda was already filling the tub. "Would you prefer to undress yourself?" I rolled my eyes as I chuckled, dropping the cup on the granite counter with the mirrors to unzip my dress. I climbed into the tub, and settled in, the scent of vanilla enveloping me. My eyes closed as I took in the absolute decadence. I would really get to live this life? Me? I'd grown up in the orphanage and I'd only joined my twin sister when her adopted parents took me just three years ago. When I opened my eyes, I didn't see Brenda. I found Logan. My heart started the fast beat it always did when he was anywhere near. He was resting against the doorway, hands in his pockets. His eyebrows were pinched together as he fixed me with a look that made me twitch in the water. What did a person say to their mate in the morning? He got off the doorway, releasing his relaxed pose and moving towards me like a lion on the prowl. Well, a wolf. I wrapped my hands over my breasts as he sat on the thick edge of the tub and dipped a hand in, grazing my thigh with his hand and making me gasp as desire raced up my legs to my center. I snatched my left leg up, embarrassed by my reaction to him. I knew I loved him, but I didn't know how he really felt about me. He'd left me yesterday night. His grip went to my ankle and when I went to yank it away but couldn't. His big hand curled around my slim ankle, stroking the arch of my foot. I shivered as a little moan escaped from my lips. "You're going to catch a cold if you don't get out the tub." His husky, deep voice was like liquid honey, and I couldn't look away from his eyes until he pulled the plug, draining the water in the tub. I stepped out of the tub, naked and dripping water everywhere but I didn't get offered a towel. My cheeks burning scarlet, I went to one of the inbuilt drawers and took out a folded towel, spreading it out and drying myself. He just stood there and…watched. The golden gaze that often mesmerised me, was now more than a little unnerving. I swallowed, as I rubbed myself with the towel, my n*****s grew harder than rocks, and I could feel how wet I was getting between my legs as I dried my body. And all he'd done was look at me. I went to wrap myself in the towel when it was yanked from my hands and dropped on the floor a few feet away. I brought my hands over my breasts, but those too were yanked away. He drew them away from my body and held them at my sides, his big suited body pressing up hard against my front. A shaky breath whistled out of me. "Logan…" His eyes flew to my lips. "You keep trying to hide things away from me, then I might get angry." His lips were on mine in a breath, taking my breaths as his own. I wanted some space to move but his grip was tight, and I had to stand there and take the onslaught. It was heady, his kiss. He moved with me, backing me up until we were pressed against a wall, and his lips went to my neck, nipping and sucking the sensitive spot where my neck met my shoulder. I wanted so badly to touch him but he still held my hands and his grip was becoming tighter. Almost like he read my thoughts he freed my hands and scooped me up, holding me against the wall with one hand as the other went to his belt buckle. I gripped unto his shoulders, holding on for dear life. I gasped as he pushed into me, his hard c**k filled me up, stretching me as he started moving immediately. His lips slanted over mine as he kissed me again and this time I matched his fervor. The ride was over before it even began. He dropped me to my feet and turned away, buckling himself and walking out of the bathroom. "Get dressed, we're going to visit your parents."
