Anjali
“Bye, mom...” I say and put on my sandals.
“Anjali I told you not to go to the office then why are you going?!” my mom shouts from the kitchen.
“But mom, I can’t- “ she cut me off.
“I said you are not going to the office,” she chides.
“Mom listen, mom,”
I try to talk to her but she isn't listening.
“Anjali today they are coming to see you and you want to go to the office?” she asks.
“Maa I told you so many times I am not ready for marriage and I want to wait before I decide to get married,”
“We gave you so much time now listen to us,” she goes inside.
Hi, I am Anjali. Anjali Thapar. I am a fashion designer. I love being independent and I want to enjoy my freedom for a little while longer. Yes, my parents gave me one year, and in this one year they didn’t ask me about marriage, but now they are looking for a groom for me. I have to do something so that this groom would run away and not look back.
Think something Anjali, think something.
So here is Anjali. She is chirpy, sweet, stubborn, naughty, and enjoys every moment of her life. She is a fashion designer, and she loves her work, as it is her passion.
She doesn’t want to get married. She believes that if she gets married, then she will lose her freedom. She didn't believe in love and thinks it is only good in books. She loves her parents so much. She is an only child, so her parents love and pamper her a lot.
Aarav
“Mom, I don’t want to have an arrange marriage,” I say for the umpteenth time.
“We are going and that’s final Aarav,” dad says.
“But dad I already told you I want to have a love marriage then why are you forcing me to have an arranged marriage?” I ask.
“Aarav I gave my word to my friend that you will marry his daughter and I think you will not let me down,” dad goes to his room.
“Mom” I look at my mom for help.
“Aarav listen to me,”
“I know you want to have a love marriage but who knows, you may get your girl through an arranged marriage. Come with us and let us go see her, and if you don’t like her, then I will talk to your father,” she whisper, hoping I’d understand.
“Ok mom,” I say, and she kisses my forehead then goes to the kitchen.
