Baxter quickly pulled Laurie into his arms and held her tight, then looked up at Miles and Dallas who had moved closer, their eyes were full of tears and anger. Baxter looked around the room at the others and saw the same look in their eyes. Had this poor child witnessed her parents being killed? And where did that happen and why?
Ryder came closer and knelt on the floor beside them. “Laurie, sweetie, those people who brought you here to Baxter’s hotel weren’t your parents? Can I ask who are your parents?”
