How could she just disappear? We were only standing a few feet away from the office door and no one went in, or came out, so where is she? How did she leave? Baxter ran those questions and a thousand others through his mind over and over again as he paced the lobby, waiting for word.
Upon finding Laurie gone, Dallas, Nick, and Pauly quickly locked down the hotel and wouldn’t allow anyone who had come back in, to leave, and anyone still outside, was locked out. Nick had called all the firemen back into the hotel, along with Pauly’s police. Some guarded all the exits, as the rest searched the hotel, room by room.
Baxter had been pacing here for what felt like hours, but when he looked at the clock on the check-in desk, it told him only about an hour and a half had passed. Damn
