“Negotiators?” “Yes, that’s what their organization is known as” “A law firm or something?” “No. They are somewhat connected to the underworld. They are the ones who clean up the mess of celebrities and public servants. All our bribes come through them. They are a fairly big and influential organization” “Eh…..” Grisha Mikhail, a detective who had been in the business for 10 years became mildly interested. He couldn’t call himself a clean man; he was all too used to the process of circumventing evidence.  He had an overall rough outlook. His dirty blonde hair was just tossed around on his head like it was given the barest brushing, reaching his shoulders. He had green eyes, a rarity, and one of his attractive points. He was very attractive with his sharp jaw and muscular build but his slack demeanor ruined his outlook.  He scratched his stubby chin trying to find a distraction from his need for a cigarette. He had been meaning to stop.  “So, what do you want me to do, chief?” “Look at this picture” the chief placed a picture of a plain-looking businessman with plain glasses on the table. Only the side profile was taken, so not much could be inferred from the picture.  “He is a negotiator, one of the higher-ranking ones. He was helping out with the case of Erin Walsh, the celebrity who was found dead on the bridge. We are suspecting him for the murder as well as considering he could have ties to the mafia. We can’t take him into custody so we can only gather evidence for now” “So, you want me to go ‘negotiate’ with them?”  “If possible, yes. You’re one of our best so I know you’ll do fine with professional negotiators. If you close this case splendidly, then the higher-ups have agreed to promote you to Team Zero”  Mikhail finally perked up. Team Zero was a special police force team that served the government directly. They were the most talented and they were well paid. With a job like that, Mikhail was set for life.  “I promise not to let you down sir!” “That’s the spirit. Here’s all the information we have on this case” The chief handed a brown envelope to him. He slipped the picture in it and stood up. He saluted and left to his desk, whistling a happy tune as he went. He turned quite a few heads as he did, following him till he sat and started working. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you all for picking The CEO's Detective.
