Near from the lakeshore, Lexi stands up on her feet, stepping at one of the rock formations, eyes never leaving the raging waterfalls and holding the gaze towards her. Everyone stood up as well, following her gaze and was surprised to see the dark eyes behind the water. It could be so hard to see but since Lexi is staring at it directly, they have found it quickly.
"Would've been the best spot to hide." Trevor said, his lips curved upwards, as if finally finding their nemesis was the greatest thing that has ever happened since they arrived at the mansion.
"We can't fight in the water, unless we're Neptune's daughter." Iris shrugged.
"But we can camp here, wait till night, and kill everyone who will step out from that place." Blake suggested.
"Then we have to light up the whole lake." Denver said, holding more than ten pieces of torches. Confusing how he had those with him all this time but nonetheless, they still need it just in case the fight between them and the monsters started as soon as the sun decided to hide behind the high mountains and darken the whole place.
"Let's move." Lexi ordered.
They started to set up the whole place like they were planning for a party or a campfire in the middle of the forest near the beautiful waterfall.
It would've been so good but the thing is, it's not a campfire, it is about an upcoming fight and they needed light to see their enemies. One more hour had passed and they were all set.
Chantelle and Jisu made a bonfire when the light started to leave, Lexi lit up all the torches before they all circled around the bonfire and waited.
"I have to admit it, but I must say that I'm glad to meet all of you even in the middle of our most dangerous situation of our life." Lexi tells them as she sat in between Trevor and Jazen.
"Well, some of us already know you but yeah, it was nice seeing you again Lex, you haven't changed at all, still stubborn and cocky." Iris chuckled and they all laughed.
"So what are guys planning after this?" Siena asked, looking at each one of them.
"We're gonna live far from this country, get married in an open country and build our family." Jazen answered for Lexi, who just chuckled at that but felt a bit excited.
"And I'm going to be with them wherever they go." Trevor shrugged his shoulders, throwing another twig at the fire.
"You really want to do this now, Trev?" Jazen asked, as if she's trying to start a duel between the two of them and whoever wins, they will take Lexi.
"I'm not letting you take her away from me Jazen, she's half of me, my person, and if you want to marry her, then you have to suck it up, I'm included in the package."
"Are you deaf, Lex? You hear what your best friend is saying?" Jazen turned to Lexi, who was just laughing at their bickering but inside of her, she knew Trevor was telling the truth. So if Jazen wants to take her away, then she has to always include Trevor.
"Me, I want to go home and tell my mom that I lost my brother and probably cry for a week with her then move on to my relatives in Missouri, we have a farm there." Denver said, staring at the raging red hues of fire in front of them.
"I know it's late, but we were sorry for your loss." Blake put his arm on top of Denver's shoulder and squeezed it. "I'm definitely go back to my brother's house in Italy and live there with his gay partner."
"That's great, I hope you'll stop being homophobic." Iris retorted but Blake just rolled his eyes playfully.
"I think we'll go far from here too, like live in another country, and find a better and decent job." Siena smiled wryly, she picked up the twig next to her and put it near the fire, letting the tip burnt and watched how the smoke danced in the air.
"Yeah, we'll definitely do that." Iris agreed to her. It's been so long since they lived like criminals, but not totally criminals as they were working in an underground, where people bet money and watched how the two of them beat every new challenger and not hiding to law anymore since their job is illegal.
"How about you, Jisu?" Lexi asked her friend while ignoring the two next to her to keep bickering, Jisu was just listening to them, but her mind wandered around to what she's going to do after their miserable situation.
"I don't know, bring Chantelle with me, introduce her to my parents and we'll go back to South Korea."
"Do you even ask me if I want to go with you?" Chantelle asked her playfully.
Jisu chuckled and she turned half of her body to face the girl and look straight into her honey almond eyes. "Do you want to go with me to Korea?"
"I would love to, but first you need to meet my mom."
"You have a mom?" All of them asked, as if it was surprising to know that Chantelle, the one who's good at picking locks and one of the most notorious pickpocket in their country, has a mom.
"Why do I think that all of you are shocked?" Chantelle chuckled.
"Not totally." Blake shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, my mom worked for the government—."
"Wait what?" Lexi blinked her eyes rapidly, it is some news to hear about her mom, who worked for the government and yet her daughter is with them.
"The irony, right?"
"And the audacity to let the government kill her daughter just because you accidentally encountered a monster." Jisu scoffed, getting furious at her soon to be mother in law.
"Couldn't blame her for surrendering me. I was the reason why my father died so yeah, she told me that it's better if I die."
"How could she be more cruel for blaming you for your father's death? Who would blame their daughter for that?"
"What did you do?" Iris asked, not wanting to judge her mom till she didn't know the other side of the story.
"Basically nothing, I was just born and he was too happy and excited to see me in the hospital but he got into an accident and died."
"Would it be so bad if I treat your mom as one of our nemesis?" Jisu asked, earning a ludicrous look from everyone, but they couldn't disagree more.
Who would blame a newborn child in an accident that she's not even aware of because she literally breathed the first air outside of her mother's womb and yet got accused immediately.
"Why would you still want Jisu to meet your mom if she wants you to die?" Blake asked ridiculously.
"She's still my biological mom and I want her to see the person who gave life to me."
"She's not a person at all, she's worse than those monsters." Lexi snarked.
"Like your father?" Blake chuckled mockingly.
"They're all the same." Lexi huffed an annoyed sigh as she pulled herself up and stretched her arms above her head. "We should get ready." She said as the night started to greet them and their surroundings started to dim.
"Look, they're already coming out." Trevor pointed at the waterfall where one monster tried to come out.
"I'll take it." Chantelle said as she took one arrow behind her back, closed her one eye and aimed for the monster's forehead.
Bullseye.
The monster snarled, letting out a painful growl and retreated back. Then a brief silence engulfed them, only the sounds of water falling from up above and meeting the other half of the water at the bottom.
"Here they are." Lexi warns them, they have already prepared their weapons for the impending attack of monsters. Then they heard loud growling coming from the cave behind the waterfall and a sudden movement from the steady stream of the water, the monster simultaneously leaped off towards them. "Here we go!" Lexi shouted and they all jumped to dodge the monsters and started fighting them.
Lexi rolled out on the ground, picking up herself and swung her sword to cut the monster's leg in front of her, the flesh sizzled, the monster hurled before falling on his face with a heavy thud, then Lexi stabbed his head.
Denver jumped on top of the monster, while the latter was trying to catch him, Blake moved quickly, ramping on its chest and piercing his dagger with his two hands holding the grip and he slid down to slice the body of the monster.
Iris used an axe to hit the monster's side, but it stuck, the monster spun around, bringing Iris with him and she flung in the air, Siena chuckled before helping her, jumping in the air and used a katana to cut off the head, the blood spurts out to Iris and she shrieked.
"Yuck!" All of them shrieked when they saw Iris was covered with monster's blood.
"Thanks Siena." Iris said sarcastically.
"Help!" Jisu cried when the monster got her by her hand, lifting her in the air and was about to bite her arm, Trevor moved and he jumped to reach the bough, swayed his body till he got enough momentum and let go, he landed at the back of the monster, locked his legs around its neck, let his half body fell back then pierced the axe right in the ass. The monster grumbled and whimpered like a puppy who accidentally hit his head on the table for too much zoomies. Jisu dropped on the floor but Chantelle picked her up and she aimed her arrow at the monster's eye and she hit it perfectly.
"You could've done it earlier, I almost became his dinner!" Jisu scowled at her.
"You're welcome." Chantelle turned to Jisu with a sarcastic smile.
Jazen was just standing on her spot, didn't even make an effort as she kept pulling the trigger of her shotgun every time there's a monster who will attack her, she's out of shell, so she c****d her rifle and firing every monsters on her sight, she spin around without even thinking that she might hit her friends.
"Damn it, Jazen!" Blake yelled while he's laying flat on his stomach on the ground when Jazen shoot the monsters on his side. "Do you intend to kill me?!"
"Didn't see you there." Jazen said nonchalantly while filling her shotgun with new shells she took from Jisu's backpack.
"At least an apology would do!" Blake hissed but Jazen didn't have the chance to retaliate with that when a monster leaped on her and she knocked off with the monster on top of her.
"Jazen!" Lexi shouted and she pulled her sword from the monster in front of her then she ran to Jazen.
The girl underneath screamed when the monster attacked her, biting her head off.
"Jazen!" Lexi cried as much as her lungs could muster and she leaped in the air, landing at the back of the monster and penetrating the sword into its body.
