"Lexi?! Lexi Myers?!" The old guy exclaimed when he recognised the young lady. "You're still alive!"
"Wait uh.." Lexi looked at her friends then back to the old guy. He removed his hat so Lexi would recognise him.
"It's me!"
Lexi's eyes widened. "Uncle Sam?!"
"Yes! Oh my God! I can't believe that I will see you here!" The old guy pulled Lexi and hugged her but he stopped when he realized that Lexi was holding a young man. "Sorry." He apologized as he held up the young man. "You–." He paused when he saw Trevor's face and his eyes widened again. "Oh my God, you silly boy is still alive!"
"Hey uncle Sam." Trevor greeted the old guy weakly. "It's been ten years since I last saw you."
"Since the monster's attack in the orphanage." The old guy said and he tapped Trevor's head. "I'm glad to see you again."
Uncle Sam was a caretaker of the mansion and one of the survivors in the monster's attack ten years ago, the night before the horrific event, he fled with his granddaughter and hid in the cave when he accidentally overhead father Sitrus and the guy who brought the Queen of the monsters. He knew that it would happen and so he quickly saved himself. But on the exact night where he wanted to go back and save the two kids he was taking care of, it was too late, everyone was dead and so he thinks that Trevor and Lexi were also the victims of that horrific event.
"Uncle Sam, we need help." Lexi said.
Uncle Sam nodded his head and he carried Trevor in his arms. At the age of 54, he still has the strength, because he needed it to survive every single night and protect the only relative he has because he failed to protect his daughter, who is one of the servants in that orphanage.
As they all got to Uncle Sam's house, the old guy started treating Trevor's wound while all the teenagers were waiting in the small living room, taking the opportunity to rest. Herlie prepared their dinner. Denver scooted to the corner and fell asleep as soon as he shut his eyes, Siena and Iris decided to have a coffee and sat on the mini table in the mini kitchen, while Blake was left outside, feeling so guilty because he did that to Trevor. Jisu and Chantelle stayed in the living room with Jazen who were already sleeping while Lexi watched the old man treat Trevor.
"How did you guys get here?" Uncle Sam asked without looking at Lexi.
"We had an offer from Sakura." Lexi replied, her eyes focused on Trevor's face while he's sleeping.
"Offer of what?"
"Offer that if we get rid of all of those monsters, we will get rich."
The old man stopped for a moment upon hearing Lexi but continued anyway. "You know that you can't defeat them, you were there when they attacked that night, you saw how strong they are."
"I know." Lexi replied and she sat on the chair, her eyes never leaving Trevor. "But I was hoping that we could defeat them now."
"You still don't know how to lie, Lexi." The old man chuckled. "Tell me the real reason why you accept the offer."
"I want revenge." Lexi answered, her anger that she kept for ten years started to rise again inside her chest. "And I already did when I killed their Queen."
The basin dropped on the floor, Trevor shot her eyes open, Uncle Sam snapped his head behind him with anger visible on his eyes.
"Why did you do that?!"
"Because I have to!" Lexi returned the same anger she received from the old guy. "If it wasn't for her, everyone would've still been alive by now!"
"They are not going to stop not until you're dead!"
"I don't f*****g care, then they are free to come at me. All I have to do is get everyone out of here and I'll deal with them all by myself!"
"Are you nuts?!" Uncle Sam asked in disbelief and he turned around to face Lexi. "You already survived twice from that place, what makes you think that you will have another chance?!"
"What's going on here?" Jazen asked from the door which stopped the two from arguing. Lexi stood up abruptly and left without saying a word, but she tugged Jazen with her. "What was that?" Jazen asked again when they stopped walking until they got to the back of the Nipa hut.
"Nothing." Lexi replied coldly.
"Lex."
"I said nothing! Stop asking!" Lexi snapped out and she was about to walk away but Jazen stopped her from doing so. She looked back and when she saw her girlfriend's worried face, she suddenly regretted snapping at her wherein all Jazen wanted is to know what's going on and why Uncle Sam and Lexi started fighting all of a sudden and it has awakened all the teenagers trying to get some sleep. "I'm sorry babe." She sighed.
"It's okay, but Lexi. I really wanted to know what's going on with you." Jazen said softly.
"What do you mean?"
"Since we got in the mansion, you've changed. Do you really think that I wouldn't notice it?" Jazen's voice laced with pain. Their friends may not notice that Lexi's behavior had changed significantly, but Jazen knows. She had seen the worst changed at her girlfriend. She became secretive, hiding a lot of things not only from her, but from everyone. Iris was right when she felt something odd at the first time she met Lexi.
"Look, I'm sorry for yelling at you, but can you please stop asking me for now? I will tell you everything later after we get out of here." Lexi said dismissively but Jazen wouldn't let it go. If she needs to push further just for Lexi to admit what's going on, she will do it. So she tightened her grip onto Lexi's hand. "Jazen."
"When I found out that you were the reason why my sister died, I was so mad at you and Trevor." Jazen said, which made Lexi confused as to why her girlfriend started bringing it up again. "I was so certain of killing you to get justice for my sister's death."
"Then why didn't you do it?"
"Because I love you, my feelings for you are much stronger than the resentment I kept for ten years." Jazen replied calmly.
Lexi froze for a moment, her eyes softened after and let out a soft sigh of regret and guilt. "We should stop now."
"What—."
"I'm sorry, I know that this is not the right time to stop everything about us but I've been having a hard time saving—." Lexi didn't have the chance to finish what she was saying when Jazen slapped her.
"I didn't slap you for breaking up with me." Jazen scoffed as she stepped back from Lexi, she didn't even know that it was really Lexi, she's far different from the Lexi she met at the coffee shop three years ago. "I did that just in case you forgot that you prayed for me to be yours and just because you think that I'm starting to be a burden in our situation, then wake up, because I know that I'm capable to save myself without your help."
"That's not what I meant." Lexi said but Jazen could see that she really is.
"You just literally said that."
"Look, let's just stop. Okay? Once Trevor wakes up, leave this place and never contact me again."
"Fine, if that's what you want." Jazen scoffed and she turned her heels, she walked back inside the Nipa hut and sat next to Jisu abruptly, holding back her tears. It sure does hurt her because she really has feelings for Lexi and she ended the three years relationship just like that.
"What happened?" Jisu asked.
"She broke up with me."
"Why did she do that? Did you guys fight?" Jisu asked again. She admits that she has feelings for Lexi, but she never wishes for the couple to break up because she knows that Lexi has strong feelings for Jazen.
"I don't know, she told me that I'm a burden."
"That doesn't even make any sense." Jisu breathed raggedly.
"I know right?!" Jazen huffed an annoyed sigh and she lay down her head on Jisu's shoulder as she let her tears roll down. "She's so f*****g stupid!"
"Hush now, she might have stressed about Trevor's condition, I know that she'll be back to her senses once we get out of here." Jisu said to soothe the young brunette while stroking her back.
Iris stood up from the table after she heard the conversation between Jazen and Jisu. She went out and looked for Lexi, she saw the girl leaning at the tree with her eyes closed and seemed to be contemplating about her life.
"I heard that you broke up with Jazen." Iris said as she leaned on the other side of the tree.
"It's for the best." Lexi replied without opening her eyes.
"Breaking a girl's heart is for the best? Since when?" Iris chuckled.
"You wouldn't understand anyway, so why bother to explain my reason?"
"Listen, I don't really give a damn care about your reason. I was just wondering why all of a sudden, but after you speak to me like you are doing the best decision in your life? Nevermind then, because even if you turn the world upside down, you are still a lunatic to hurt the woman who loves you and the only person who can understand you." Iris said in one breath and she walked out, not even waiting for Lexi's response.
"No one would understand me, my mission is more important than thinking about others feelings." Lexi mumbled to herself and let out a lungful sigh. When she opened her eyes, she remembered the text message she received from Sakura. She then fished out the phone she was hiding from everyone all this time and sent a message to Sakura.
"I found them." As soon as she hit the send button, she looked over her shoulder when she felt someone's presence behind her but saw no one, she looked at Blake's spot but the guy still sitting there.
One teenager heard everything and saw everything, then she went back to the Nipa hut and acted like nothing happened.
