The room went silent as Cedar and I made our way towards the ranked members’ table. Some of the wolves smiled at me, while others simply stared, either in awe or in uncertainty. For the first time, the hundreds of eyes on me made me feel slightly uncomfortable, but I held my head up until we reached our destination.
“Hello, Luna!” Lyall was the first to greet me, bowing his head as soon as he stood up. “How are you liking Ninebark so far?”
“It’s a lovely place. I have the feeling I appreciate it more than your Alpha.” I playfully shot my mate a side glance, and he pretended not to notice.
