CHAPTER 2

Chapter Two

A union of convenience

James, Logan's father declared a shareholders meeting as he would be handing over to his only son, Logan. He needed to retire after all the years he has worked. Logan was happy to take over at the same time sad. He was sad because of the so many atrocity his father committed, and he was happy because he planned on not living the same way. He was in his room when he was summoned by his father prior to the meeting.

"You're welcome son, have a sit near me.". James tapped the bedside for Logan to sit.

"I called you hear Logan to tell you how have managed the company and why I managed it in this way." Logan could only nod as he looked at his father eagerly

"You see, this company was handed over to me by my dad which was your grandfather. My dad manager the company so well so I vouched not to disrupt it in my hand that was why it was always work everytime."

"But father you could have still manage the company well even without committing all those atrocities." Logan said as his father sighed.

"You saw the files already. I thought that was what will make me manage the company, now I feel so sorry. My son, I also don't want you to do as I have done that was why I decided to talk to you. And also there is an inheritance your grandfather left for you, he did for me as well and the only way you can get this inheritance is by having your marriage."

"M..my what?"

"Yes, your marriage, and the time frame giving to get married is six months. If after six months, you've not gotten married, then the company will be given to one of your cousins."

"This is unbelievable Father. How can I get married within a frame of six months. That's hilarious."

"That went for me as well, that was why I married your mother."

Logan could only stare at his father not still believing what his father said. He excused himself as he went to prepare for the meeting. He brushed it off his mind thinking his father was using one if his funny ways to make him get married. Logan has never been in any relationship maybe because of how strict his parents were. The thought of him now getting married was something he could fathom.

At the shareholders meeting, all of James friends and business partners were sitted to witness the handover. Reporters also filled the room to capture the happenings at the meeting. James started by thanking every individual for showing up, he then went ahead to listing what he achieved in his tenure which was received with an applause from the audience. A chief, who was present during James' dad tenure was the one to hand it over since he knew how things were done. He cleared his throat as he began.

"I welcome you all once again to this hand over meeting. I feel so achieved as I've witnessed father and son manage the company now about to hand over to another son. Son come join me here." The old said as he beckoned to Logan.

"I hope your father as told you all that you will do. This company that will be handed to you today dies not automatically mean it's handed to you until you get married within the six months frame then you can take rightful possession of the company ."

Logan was speechless as he knew there was no turning back at this point. He needed to get married. The old man taking Logan's silence for approval, continued with the process. Logan signed some documents , made the vow and there and then, the company was handed over to Logan Tylor. Everyone came to congratulate him after the meeting, wishing him luck. In appreciation to Jack's care for him since he was a child, Logan decided to make his son his secretary. Jack was grateful for the opportunity as he found it surprising. Logan went to see his father in his request.

"Logan, you've proved yourself a capable son I decided on giving you a gift." James said as he brought out a file from a file case.

"This is the license to the house I bought for you. Leave this old man and go start up on your own son. I'm always here if you have any question concerning the company." Logan could only look at his father surprise until his father handed the file to him.

"Th..thank you Father, I really appreciate and I promise not to let you down." The overwhelmed Logan said.

"You'd better not." James beamed as he hugged his son.

Logan retired to his room so late in the night after the dinner he had with other business men to celebrate his taking over. As he laid on the bed, he thought through everything. He hoped he manged the company well. He planned on moving to his new house with his new secretary, Austin the following day. His only headache was how he was going to get married within six months. He decided to talk it out with Austin his new secretary who seemed experience in relationship matters. Logan sighed as he wondered about all the things he had to do like getting office suits and all. He concluded not to commit any atrocity but serve in his tenure with clean hands. James on the other hand had total belief in his son, Logan. He believed his son would do more and perform better than he did without staining his hand ss he did. Even though it was hard for him to release Logan in his own, he just had to do it so Logan won't rely on him for everything. No one can deny the fact that James loves his son.

He wants the best for his son and wishes he won't get his hands dirty like him.
