With a yowl, Sir Raleigh appeared at my feet and arched up into Halloween cat mode. I summoned my shield magic, flinging the soul-eater back. I didn't know how long I could keep it up, so I grabbed the cat and ran toward the stairs. No way would I be stuck in an elevator with that thing.
The metal fire door slammed behind me as I entered the stairwell. My heels pinched my feet, so I kicked them off and ran up the first flight of stairs but then had to stop.
