The next day, Leo poured coffee in his cup and rubbed his eyes from not sleeping at all. He frowned at the empty container of milk, tossed it in the trash, and grabbed another cup for Jessica. After he arrived last night, he spoke with the police in charge and found out some kids were playing in the building and set off the alarm. Leo passed the coffee to Jessica. She thanked him and raised her legs up on top of the couch. “I appreciate you staying last night.” “Did you sleep at all?” “No,” she huffed. “At least it was just some kids.” “Only reason I feel like I can breathe better.” “Are you hungry?” “No, I need to get to work.” Jessica stretched and rose from the couch. “I’m heading to the station.
