CHAPTER 4. HEARTLEDGE MANSION

1146 Words
THE HEARTLEDGE MANSION, 3rd March 2015.   The mansion was set on the outskirts of a small town, Ridgefield. Ridgefield is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States, situated in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. Driving up the gated, manicured driveway to the great hall of the mansion feels like entering a classical film —one where everyone wears tuxedos and top hats has cigarette holders and spend their time lounging in impossibly big mansions with impossibly well-manicured lawns.  It was just a beautiful piece of property, one of the nicest in Ridgefield. The mansion was primarily inhabited by George Moresome, his parents and the servants who were strictly instructed to mind their businesses and never intervene in the ‘matters of the masters’. Everyone, including the butler Caedmon, heard the whimpers of the anonymous girl brought over by George but pretended to be engaged in their daily chores. The rules laid over for the conduct of the servants were strict, so they tried to maintain reticence as much as possible. But the wails seemed to fade away as the moan had realized the uselessness of the deed. She got up while holding her head and moved towards the window. She moved her head and observed her surroundings. She glared at the beautiful scenery in complete astonishment. She pinched her cheek to testify if it was a dream or reality. Due to the stinging sensation, she felt upon her cheek, she understood that it indeed was real. Though she had nothing but a smile in the beginning while glaring at the beauteous forms of nature that could be seen from the window, it all began to disappear when she realized she never travelled to this place on her own. ‘Then, how did I get here?’ thought Aradhya while placing her hand over her worried face. ‘Oh god, Maybe it was George. I have heard people mention several times that he owned one in Fairfield County. I need to leave and get back to my home.’  “Baby! Baby! Where did my darling flee off to?” said the man approaching Aradhya. She shivered at the loud call and turned her gaze slowly towards the door. George moved towards Aradhya in small strides with a cunning smile upon his lips. “Did you sleep well, darling?” enquired the man jovially. Aradhya observed him carefully, especially the robe he was wearing. She somehow seemed to realize that he wasn’t actually wearing anything inside it. He neared her with the kind smile and sat beside her on the bed. Just when he opened his mouth to covey something, Aradhya intervened. “Umm … George, Could you please bring me a glass of water?” asked Aradhya in a panicked tone. The purpose of doing that was to send him away for a minute or two so that she could buy some time to think of an escape.     George realized her panicked state and asserted, “I don’t have to go, darling. I’ll call my servant. He will serve you the water. I will just casually sit here and talk with you about the affairs of the office and stuff.” Aradhya gave him a dubious gaze and said sardonically, “Please do that, and yes there was something you told me that you wanted to talk about in the office … and then we ended up here ... in the middle of nowhere” “Do you remember how I always told you that you were never there with me while we were dating?” enquired George. Aradhya looked at him with clueless eyes and mumbled, “Yeah.” “Well, what I mean is that we all have shortcomings and habits. Like in your case you like to sprint in the realms of your imagination and end up ignoring people several times. Purposely or unintentionally, that is a debate for another day, but that’s how it’s with me too. I need s*x in order to calm myself. Since you won’t offer me, I had to look out for other options”. Aradhya placed her hand over her waist and said, “Are you being serious? Is this your so-called ‘excuse’ for cheating? How can you be so brazen?” “See? That is your problem. You never even consider the perspective of the other person. How long will you act like this? You are not a teenager anymore. You are a woman, so act like one too,” roared George with a scrutinizing gaze. Aradhya jolted due to the sudden clamour and said, “I want to leave. Take me back” “No honey, you are not going anywhere, not until I am satisfied. With your beautiful body, I don’t think it will be before a month or so.” said George with a smirk “Come, lay beside me, baby.” Aradhya looked at him hysterically and said with a stutter, “A … Are you insane? Let me go, you fool!” Aradhya cried, and the red colour of her cheek spread all over her face and neck. In a moment, her eyes grew moist while her glance dropped to the ground. Perceiving that he had pained her, he decided to say no more. She wiped away her tears and repeated, “Let me leave, please. I belong to a very poor family. If something were to happen to me, who would pay for the expenses of my family? They will starve.” George looked at her and said cunningly, “I have an idea. You could become my mistress and I will pay you loads of money for the service of two months and you won’t have to work for the rest of the year. How does that sound?” Aradhya gaped at him in wonder and exclaimed, “I would be so disappointed if I were your mother. Scums like you should rot in hell.” George picked out a cigar, lit it and began to smoke. “Are you sure, though? It is a quite profitable offer for you.” Aradhya shook her head and spoke emphatically, “Shut up! I would like you to present this offer to your mother. She will definitely take it.” George threw the cigar on the floor, went towards Aradhya furiously. He gave the girl a light dose of the vibration to slap her awake from her audacious self. She fell on the ground with a thud and gaped at the man in disbelief. “You know what people in the office still say? They believe that you were crazy about me and I had to slap you to make you leave me alone. Everyone knows your penury worth. You should be grateful that I am offering you something in return,” said George while climbing upon her. “No! Go away! Help me!” shrieked Aradhya while pushing him away. “No, you are not going anywhere honey,” said George while binding her hands with the belt of his robe.   ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~   AUTHOR’S NOTE Please add this book into your library to support the author.
