Catarina’s POV I slowly opened my eyes, taking in the serene surroundings. The sun's rays filtered through the curtains, casting a warm and welcoming glow across the room. As I shifted my gaze towards Alex, I noticed that he was still sound asleep, his chest rising and falling with each breath. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, feeling grateful for this peaceful moment. His arm was draped over my body, creating a sense of security and comfort. Despite the urge to stay in bed, I knew I had to get up and go to the bathroom. I carefully removed his arm from my body and slipped out of bed, taking a moment to stretch my limbs and take in the fresh morning air. As I made my way to the bathroom, I couldn't help but admire the beautiful decor of the house. The walls were adorned with stunning paintings and photographs, and the furniture was tasteful and elegant. Everything was so perfectly arranged that it felt like a dream. I splashed water on my face and looked at myself in the mirror. My hair was a mess, and my eyes were still a bit puffy from sleep, but I felt happy and content. I took a deep breath and returned to the bedroom, ready to start the day with a smile. When I returned to the bedroom, Alex was still sleeping soundly. I felt a pang of guilt for waking up before him, but I knew I couldn't stay in bed forever. I decided to make myself useful and prepare some breakfast. I tiptoed out of the room and headed to the kitchen. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and I couldn't resist pouring myself a cup. I rummaged through the fridge and found some eggs, bacon, and bread. I decided to make a hearty breakfast for us both. "Oh, good morning, madam," a woman around fifty years old came bustling through the door. She looked surprised to see me, but I smiled at her warmly. "Good morning," I beamed at her. "I thought I would prepare some breakfast," I said, gesturing to the ingredients I had laid out on the counter. The woman looked at me with disbelief, shaking her head. "But madam, the king would be cross at that since I am the cook." I laughed at her response, shaking my head. "Please let me do this for you while you relax," I said, placing a hand on her arm. "I insist." The woman looked at me momentarily, then nodded, a small smile appearing. "Very well, madam," she said, stepping back to let me take over. As I began to cook, I could feel the woman's eyes on me, watching my every move. I tried to ignore her and focus on the task at hand, but it was difficult with her constant scrutiny. Finally, I finished cooking and plated the food, feeling proud of my efforts. The woman looked at the food sceptically, but I could see a glimmer of curiosity in her eyes. "Please, try it," I said, gesturing to the plate. "I promise it's delicious." The woman hesitated momentarily, then picked up her fork and took a bite. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she looked at me with amazement. "This is delicious," she said, taking another bite. "How did you learn to cook like this?" I smiled at her, feeling a sense of pride. "I've always loved cooking," I said. "It's one of my passions." “What is your name?” I asked suddenly, feeling rude as I had not asked her already. “Madam, my name is Cherry.” she kept bowing to me. “No need for that nonsense. I am merely just a regular... “ “Oh no, Madam. You are much more than just regular. I know special when I see it. You have no idea how rare that sort of special is.” she mumbled, but I thought she was being polite, so I did not take much notice. “Try this,” I said. Cherry nodded, then took another bite, savouring the flavours. As she ate, we talked more about cooking and recipes, and I could feel us bonding over our shared love of food. By the time we finished eating, the woman had a smile on her face, and I knew that I had won her over. "Thank you for this, madam," she said as we cleared the table. "It was truly a delicious meal." I smiled at her, feeling happy and content. "It was my pleasure," I said. "I'm just glad I could help." “What's going on here then?” I looked up, and my tummy did this weird butterfly thing at the sight of him. It was Alex, and damn, he looked so good standing in the doorway, smiling. “I made breakfast,” I said proudly. “The twins are still asleep. Let's enjoy this peace.” I laughed, and Alex was amused. “Good morning, Cherry apologises about my dear cat taking over your kitchen.” Alex chuckled, and Cherry blushed. “No problem, your highness. She is very talented and beautiful.” he nodded in agreement and didn't take his eyes off me. “I must go and check on the twins,” I excused myself. As I walked into the twins' bedroom, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. I was pleased they slept well on their first night in the new house. They looked so peaceful and content, snuggled up under the soft blankets. The room was filled with lovely toys, and I knew they would be excited to wake up and start playing with them. "Good morning, my little angels!" I said, trying to sound cheerful. "Mummy! Mummy! They both exclaimed, jumping up and down on the bed. I smiled at their enthusiasm and picked them up, giving them a big hug. They smelled so sweet and fresh, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment. "Did you sleep well?" I asked. "Yes, mummy! We slept so well!" They both said, grinning from ear to ear. "I'm so glad! Are you excited to play with your toys?" I asked, gesturing towards the pile of toys in the corner of the room. "Yes, mummy! We want to play with everything!" They both said, giggling. I felt a sense of relief knowing that they were happy and content. Moving to a new house was never easy, but seeing their happy faces made it all worth it. "Alright, let's get dressed and head downstairs for breakfast," I said, trying to sound authoritative. "Okay, mummy!" They both said, jumping out of bed. As they got dressed, I couldn't help but admire their cute little outfits. They looked so adorable, and I knew that they would turn heads wherever we went. "Are you ready?" I asked as we headed towards the door. "Yes, Mummy! Let's go!" They both said, holding my hand. “Where is Alex?” Nadia suddenly asked, followed by a shriek of excitement as she was scooped up and tickled by Alex. He was such a big kid, and I loved how he treated my twins like his own. “Can we have ice cream and pancakes for breakfast?” Nathan exclaimed, tugging at my sleeve, and I was about to say no, but Alex clapped his hands and ran to the kitchen with the twins. I shook my head and laughed. He was a big kid. I was so lucky to have found such a fantastic guy. Not only was he a king, but he had morals and respect and treated me so well. He was just perfect. “He's our mate.” I stumbled backwards and gasped, looking around to see where that voice had come from. It was familiar, but I could not work out where from. “Catarina, it is me. Your wolf. I am here.”
