Luther looked at Horse. Then, Luther spoke in his deep, authoritative voice, "They are divided into four stages: Childhood, Maturity, Adulthood, and Ultimation. This is how they develop the Combat gene. It is similar to Clark's power. But it can be so much stronger. Their power is so well developed, so it’s considered to be one of the strongest power types."
"Can you take him?" Constance asked him cautiously, afraid for her brother now.
Luther responded, "It’ll be tricky. But having developed my power gives me an edge he doesn’t have."
Luther gripped his sword tightly. The blade grew to be covered in a light frost. It seemed to freeze in a way that sharpened the edges even more than before.
Horse looked back at Luther with fire in his eyes. He could see the effect that was causing cold steam to rise from his sword.
‘If I could somehow take his sword away from him, I’d have the upper hand and he wouldn’t be able to stop me. Then I can leave this hellhole and find another settlement full of people. Then I could find that b***h Sakura and have my way with her. I could show her what happens when you mess with me. I could do anything I wanted if I had that sword,’ Horse thought to himself.
Horse couldn’t hold back any longer. I’ll teach these fools to stand up to me. Horse began to feel hatred grow inside him.
Horse muttered to himself and clenched his jaw. He dragged the machete on the ground and rushed toward Luther in a fit of rage. Sparks flew from his weapon scratching into the concrete floor behind him, proving how fast he was.
"I’ll see you in hell!" Hoarse roared. Luther could see the craziness and anger in his eyes. The shadow of a giant bear seemed to grow and emanate from the man’s body.
Both Constance and Clark thought that animalistic power was just power of strength and agility. But Horse’s superpower was beyond their understanding.
Luther knew that this kind of power was manifested by a mysterious energy. It was all the power and energy that humans were incapable of physically harnessing. The type of power that was used here varied. The kind that was Horse’s power was unique to him.
Horse lifted his machete, slashing it forward in front of his body. A whizzing sound echoed behind it.
Luther knew that he previously underestimated Horse's power. He couldn’t take Horse’s attack headfirst.
Luther jumped back quickly. Horse missed with his machete as it slammed to the floor. The cement ground was smashed by his huge machete. A large chunk of cement flew out from where he made contact.
Horse launched a bigger attack after this.
When he turned around, he started slicing outwards from side to side. Luther didn’t expect him to attack so erratically. He raised his sword and held it out with both hands to shield himself.
The two blades collided and sparks flew. Although Luther had defended himself in time, he had to step back from the shock. Horse kept swinging at him until Luther’s back was against the wall.
"Luther!" Constance cried out. She didn’t expect Horse to be so powerful. She covered her mouth, afraid for her brother.
Luther raised his eyes to look at Horse and called out to Clark and Constance, "You guys have to go! I can’t use my power without hurting you unless you leave."
Constance and Clark looked at each other. They understood that their staying here wouldn’t help Luther. So, they nodded and left together. The room was emptied of people now since all of Horse’s goons had run away earlier.
Now Luther and Horse were alone in the battle.
"Come on!"
Luther twisted his shoulders, cracking his back to loosen up his body.
Horse said coldly, "You don’t have to do that. I’ll break them all soon anyway."
He slashed at him with his machete again, and Luther raised his sword to block it.
The sparks flew and faded.
Luther stepped back, but Horse didn’t. Luther knew that he was more powerful than his opponent, so he knew he had to keep his distance.
Horse smiled with arrogance when he saw Luther backing away from him, "Now you see why it was a mistake to fight me?”
Suddenly, an arrow made of ice shot out at him.
What the hell was that? Horse flinched and was baffled. He was now on the ground after dodging the arrow. He tried to get back up with some difficulty. The ice arrow missed him, but it did graze his side, right below his ribs, and he began to bleed.
Horse touched his wound and looked at Luther coldly, "What the hell did you do? You have powers too?”
Luther didn’t answer him and shot another ice arrow. Horse had learned the lesson now, and sliced the arrow out of the air with his machete.
"You can’t fool me, kid. I think you underestimate how smart I am in a fight." Horse sneered. He sliced the third arrow with his machete easily.
"Then you better be ready for this.”
Horse was baffled when Luther fired a large ball of water at him. He chopped at it with his weapon, but the water splashed on him, soaking his body.
"You’re going to come at me with water balloons? Seriously?" Horse was insulted at this, "Big mistake.”
As he stepped forward, his shirt began to tear open. His whole body swelled and his eyes became a bloody red. Horse growled first, then he roared. His bellow made the entire room shake. He was furious now.
He held his machete in his mouth and rushed to Luther on all four limbs.
Luther gasped and his eyes widened. He summoned his power to freeze the air in his hand. Then he pushed it forward and Horse's body froze instantly.
Luther seized the opportunity and quickly ran towards the frozen beast of a man. He aimed his sword at Horse's neck and was ready to deal him a fatal strike.
However, he heard a loud noise and he hesitated just a second too long. Horse broke away the ice that covered his body just as Luther rushed to him.
"You’re going to die!" Horse hadn’t expected that Luther was to be able to freeze him, and he was wildly enraged.
Horse roared and leaped straight at Luther with his machete.
Luther didn’t know what it would take for him to freeze Horse now. After the large man broke away from it, he immediately backed away.
Fortunately, he could tell that the ice did influence Horse’s body. He could clearly tell that Horse was moving slower.
However, the longer he took to defeat him, the more the ice would thaw. Then Horse would move faster, leaving Luther right where he started but with even less energy.
Luther kept backing away and dodging the man’s attacks as he tried to come up with another way to fight him.
Horse’s strength, speed, and physique are all better than mine. Luther thought.
This made animalistic power superior to most others.
Maybe I could find some other way to take the upper hand. He realized.
Luther remembered how he had dealt with zombies not long ago, and he smiled.
As they fought more, Horse had completely destroyed everything in the room. The ground was even cut dug up and cracked.
But one thing still had Horse’s attention. It was that Luther was still attacking him with water.
"Boy, it seems you’ve run out of tricks. All you have is water. Do you really think that’s enough to beat me?” Horse rushed at Luther with a sneer. Luther was already dead in his eyes.
In fact, Luther had only set a trap. Water now covered the floor of the whole room.
