Horse sat up and slapped the one named Bruce. Bruce took two steps back from the blow, his teeth cracked in pain, but that didn’t shut him up. "I understand that you’re looking out for us, but there was a woman out there. A beautiful one. Prettier than this town has ever seen."
“A woman?” Horse raised her eyebrows and looked around at the women with heavy makeup and stunted, shriveled breasts. His eyes were full of disgust.
In fact, he was sick of this place, and he was ready to have some fun. He got up and went to the window. He spoke as he looked outside, "I'll take a look at her, then I’ll decide."
As he said this, there was the sound of the door being kicked open behind him.
Then a cool voice said, "Don't worry, we found the entrance on our own."
"We didn't come to you, but you came to us." Bruce, the man who groveled at Horse’s feet, straightened up and walked toward Luther, but Horse stopped him.
"Bruce, don’t be rude," Horse glared at Bruce, then turned to smile at Luther and said, "These are our guests. We could all use as many friends as we can these days.”
"Horse," said Clark, pointing at the man. "Horse, it's you!"
Horse frowned, annoyed by the younger man pointing at him, but he suppressed his anger and replied with a fake smile, "You look familiar, kid."
Luther looked at his friend and asked, "Clark, do you know him?"
Clark nodded, his face full of anger, "He’s the biggest crook in East Ridge. His name is Horse, and he’s the most corrupt goon around. My father used to be a fruit vendor, because he didn't pay the protection fee, and Horse attacked him. He didn’t pay for the medical expenses. Instead, he came to our house and destroyed everything we owned..."
"Six months later, my father died from internal bleeding. His body wasn’t strong enough after what they did to him."
Clark's voice choked up and his face was flushed with anger. Although his adoptive father was old, the doctor said he was healthy enough to live for a long time. But after the assault, the old man had become weak and eventually died.
Horse was no friend of Clark’s.
However, Horse's memory was hazy on this. He had attacked many people. Bruce whispered softly to him, "Horse, this is the guy that lived with Sakura."
"Sakura, that beautiful bitch." At the name, a fire sparked in Horse's eyes.
"Yeah, the woman Arthur picked up the other day."
Hearing the name reminded Horse of everything he had done.
When doomsday came, Horse realized something was wrong and hid in the sewer, living underground for a short time. On the third day, an armed team rushed into the town to clean up the zombies and saved the survivors.
Horse was overjoyed that he would not have to live in the sewer any longer.
Horse found the team and they accepted him quickly. He had was given a rank and a badge number right away.
But not long after, a girl named Sakura found out what he was doing and she persuaded Arthur, one of the leading officials of the force, to expel Horse.
She knew his name once Clark told her what he did to their father.
This shattered Horse’s plan to avoid the zombies. He returned to the sewer and watched helplessly as his team left him behind. His heart was sour, and he swore that if he ever had the chance, he would get his revenge on that b***h ten thousand times over.
Horse didn't expect to meet Sakura's family. It was meant to be.
A nasty smile crept from the corner of Horse's mouth. He had thought it would be best to avoid a fight, or even to recruit them to his team. But all he wanted now was to relinquish his hatred by torturing the family of the w***e who made him live in a sewer.
The other people present were not good people either. They were all local bullies and rogues who survived doomsday with cunning and backstabbing. They looked at Horse and reached for their weapons.
Horse used a machete.
-----
Luther stepped forward and tapped Clark on the shoulder. "Don't worry, you will get your revenge today," he said.
Luther glanced at the machete in Horse's hand and said quietly, "And you can throw away your broken shovel."
Bruce heard Luther's words and laughed arrogantly, "Ha! You think revenge is yours to take? You don't know what Horse is. He's twice as strong as any man, and if you try and stop him, you won’t live to see tomorrow.”
"Hand over Clark, leave the woman, and you can go."
Horse heard Bruce’s taunts. This i***t gave away his advantage.
But he was strengthened by the thought of getting his revenge, and it was all thanks to the b***h named Sakura.
After Horse was thrown out of the team, he was so angry that his rage fueled him. It didn’t take long before he realized that he had grown stronger as time passed.
Only two days before this, Horse faced five zombies and killed them all. He was not afraid of them anymore.
Horse was not thinking about winning or losing fight, only about torturing Clark, and how he was going to take advantage of the gorgeous woman behind him.
She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
"Hey, girl," Horse gazed at Constance thoughtlessly and laughed out loud. "Do those two men satisfy you enough, baby? Come here and get comfortable. You can stay with us, I’ll take good care of you."
"Is that so? I’m sorry to tell you, but you won’t be around long enough to try."
As soon as she said this, everyone felt the temperature in the room drop by a dozen degrees.
The chill made their hair stand on end.
Luther didn't harm anyone now, he just let his power grow and spread throughout the room. He knew better than to start a fight before he was ready. That’s how people get hurt during times of chaos as panic.
All at once the atmosphere made everyone feel as if Luther was a wild animal just released from its cage.
Horse took a step back. He felt afraid. After all these years of fighting, he had run into murderers and psychopaths, but he had never met a monster like Luther, whose anger seemed to almost literally burst out of his body. He could not help but swallow his tongue. He now regretted provoking Luther. He realized quickly that this fight was not going to be as easy as he had hoped.
