6 We found the food delicious, but the company was a little lacking. Namely, that Cosimos was missing when we arrived, and Gregor had already gobbled up half a plate of the fine cuisine before we sat down. “Have you seen the professor?” Asher asked our ravenous driver as he helped me into a chair. Gregor shook his head. “Not a mare’s hair of him, but I heard somebody in the kitchen complaining about feeding somebody in their room.” I looked around and spotted a thick wooden swinging door at the back of the room. Not a peep came from behind it, and that reminded me that the man in front of me had heightened senses that made up for his lack of sight. We weren’t alone in the dining hall.
