“What’s Alden doing in our class?” Nially asked as they headed to the field in front of the campus for the flag ceremony.
“I guess he’s enrolled in our class, too.”
“Seriously?” Nially frowned. “Well at least Riley is still not around.”
“Who’s Alden and Riley?” Jena asked.
“Two dillholes you should never be friends with,” Nially said. “They’re Zian’s bullies in elementary.”
“Alden was not a bully,” Zian stated.
“Well he stopped talking to you in fifth grade. He ignored you.”
Zian felt a stab to his chest. Being ignored by Alden was painful. Not talking to Alden was painful. Nially had to remind him of it.
He felt betrayed.
