(Izara POV) Not everyone is destined to find their soulmate, but when that moment arrives, it feels like a divine gift. The instant you lock eyes with your true love, your heart races, and you become enveloped in a euphoric whirlwind. An unfamiliar sense of possessiveness and jealousy washes over you, igniting a fire within - This is how my grandmother described her experience. She was fortunate enough to discover her soulmate and firmly believed that I would too. And she was right. It was a freezing December evening at a company Christmas party. The festive spirits were alive and strong as the city sparkled with twinkling lights. Most people were tipsy, riding high on a mix of sugar and alcohol. I was completely drunk by midnight when I first encountered my mate. It didn’t take long for the night to spiral into a passionate one, only for me to later find myself embarrassed and caught off guard by a tip left on the table. To make matters more complicated, he happens to be the new CEO of the company, the very person I must ultimately betray. Let me start from the beginning. My name is Izara Haelyn Ahmes the first princess to be chosen by the moon Goddess to be the next ruler of Valarian. IN a long line of male dominating rule, being the first female ruler has its own set of downfalls. For example, I have a set of protesters, death set to not make a princess the crowned heir. The shallow, old-minded people who think a woman is not capable of handling the throne and who are determined to prove it. Well, hello people, this is the 21st century. Besides, how the hell am I incapable of being a queen when I have the blessings of the moon Goddess? Anyway, in order to be accepted by these *ahem* dimwits, I had to go through the training twice, walk around in eggshells and make sure I didn’t make any mistakes. Things were difficult but it turned out great. That is until I started my official trial to the throne. Reviews, meetings, and more reviews. My whole year was stressful, especially because of the fact that most of them just wanted to find fault in my work. Every heir to the throne is said to go on a mission approved by the royal crown, aka the King, before officially being crowned the heir to the throne, and today is the day I got mine. And it was not a pleasant one. “Allure Crest Fashion industries. One of the highest rated and the fastest growing enterprises worldwide. They have been extending their brand worldwide, including in our land. Recently, I was going through the contracts and their business deals with us and found some illegal activities. Money laundering, unauthorized exports and imports and many more. I would suggest revising the contract, or maybe even terminating it. The damage is really a huge one made so we should also reclaim the estimated loss”. Today is one of the review meetings and in front of me was the entire royal council, ready to criticize me. “Princess Izara” I stopped midway and turned to my uncle, who had a frown on his face. Less than 5 minutes into my presentation, I was interrupted. “Yes, Uncle?” “Allure Crest is our biggest and the most important customers. You can’t just go around and accuse them of these things. You know how bad our treasury is getting. If we need to take care of our land, we need their support” “I understand that, Uncle, but like I said, we can reclaim the estimated loss from them along with a penalty which will be enough for us to resurface and wi- “ “Princess, I understand you want to help, but let’s be real, it’s not practical” the man cleared his throat and looked at the rest of the Royal members. “They are our greatest resource and the ones that keep us in a steady boat. Besides, this is not even real proof. The accounts shown have no relevance to the company name. What if it is the work of some selfish employer? We will be at a total loss. Our exported minerals are at a total loss. The new world is a rising difficult phase for us.” The meeting I have been preparing for the last 3 months went down in the drain just like that. Even my father ruled it out as not practical because we can’t ‘risk’ the relationship with such allegations. Uncle walked out of the room with a broad grin of victory. Caesar is my father’s brother, and he has a son. The son who is the next heir to the throne if ever I fail in their eyes. The one who is not blessed by the moon goddess and has acquired no power of the moon and is still considered to be more capable of the throne than me. “I hate him” I muttered as I fell on my sofa, throwing the all night papers on the table. “I assume it didn’t go well” Sam, my personal guard and my advisor, said as I removed my veil and looked at him. “It didn’t. They didn’t want to risk the relationship”. “You are not going to give up, are you?” he gave me a lopsided smile as he took the scattered paper and extended it to me. “I know you won’t”. I grabbed the papers with a grin. “I won’t. In fact, I have a plan.” And that was it. That was how I went directly to my father seeking permission to go to the Allure Crest industries for the mission. Of course, it was risky, a perfect opportunity for the council to throw me out upon failing. I wasn’t even sure father would allow me to go on this mission. “Alright. You can plan and give the details by the end of the week”. My eyes widened as I stared at him silently for a good one minute. Father had a smile on his face and a trust in his heart as he accepted my request. He wanted me to believe in myself and prove my worth. It's been a centuries-old tradition that the next heir to the throne must attend public in a veil. No one other than family and a selected few was allowed to see their faces. This is to make sure of the heir’s maximum security and to have an in hand experience with the land and people. Of course, there have been moments when the paparazzi and my own people tried their best to find my identity. For one, the incapability of trying to hide my identity replicates the incapability to be the queen – another stupid thing the council came up with to dethrone me. But the veil is also most significant when it comes to the most famous and important mode of the mission – Disguise, which is –surprise surprise-also the key aspect of my mission. The plan I made was perfect. In the contract signed exclusively with the Allure Crest Industries, it was specifically mentioned that they are to accept 4 Valerians each financial year for their uplifting, and I will disguise myself as one of the candidates they will be accepting. I have already created an identity for myself, so that won't be an issue. I had also requested my father to keep this mission a secret on grounds that the royal council might try means to fail me. And so, oblivion to the surprise ahead of me, in the middle of July, I arrived at Allure Crest industries with a determination to succeed in my quest.
