CHAPTER 5 When the meeting finally finished, Delaney felt like she’d run a marathon…or something. Emphasis on the something, she thought, refusing to look up because somehow she knew Connor was watching her and it made her nervous. Which is not only annoying, but also annoyingly stupid. It wasn’t like this was the first time she’d ever stepped a room full of coworkers through a high-end project. Tom usually introduced her as his assistant (rather than his assistant project manager) and told everyone he preferred she handle “the gory details”—those details being things like budget, scheduling, and permitting statuses.
