Chapter five

2210 Words
I walked down into the dining room where most of the pack were already sitting waiting for breakfast. Cassy was sat on Alpha Ash's knee, no matter how big she got, alpha Ash always insisted on Cassy taking a spot there when they ate and Niomi was on Luke's, looking the picture of happy families. I am not ashamed to say I envied them their happiness. "Theo pushed you hard this morning?" Niomi asked Luke. Luke just grunted in response. I don't know how, but the two of them could have an entire conversation with Luke answering with different toned grunts and Niomi seemed to understand him. "Jesus Christ." Ste exclaimed, his eyes running up and down my appearance as I walked further into the room. "Sanna, you look hot." "Down boy." Chastised Cassy. "And Sanna always looks hot. Right now she looks smoking." "Thanks." I blushed as I sat down next to her and alpha Ash. "Are you sure you want to do this?" whispered Cassy, I could see the concern etched on her face. "Ye I am sure. So what is the plan?" I asked in a strong voice, showing my resolve and hiding the nervousness that I felt. "So you will drive to the train station in your car, we will follow in one of the jeeps at a safe distance just in case they try and trail you or have eyes on who is coming and going. We have put a few of the dead ends that we have into a bag that you will put in the locker, it is all legit stuff that we have found and has led to nothing so they will find it believable. Now if they take you, you just tell them that their fears are unfounded. The last thing that we want is for them to try and go further underground, especially when we have our first solid lead." "And if they don't? Where should I head? They are likely to follow me after I leave to check that I was legit." I asked, nodding my head as I processed all that alpha Ash was telling me. "After the drop, we want you to head to a motel off of the highway. Here is some cash and a burner phone from Trev, but you should be able to link one of us at all times as well." he said handing me a fist full of money and a phone. "When you get there, check into the room for a few days. I doubt that they will bother to suvail more than that. If no one contacts you we will come and get you, if they do then do not worry, we will have eyes on you at all times even if you don't see us. I have roped in some of those that we can trust from the packs we have alliances with to help keep a rotation and not draw suspicion." alpha Ash told me, obviously having thought all this through. "Don't worry, I spoke to Richard and he has given you the next few days off. I suggest packing a bag with a few outfits just to make it more believable that you are living out on the road." said Cassy. I nodded, glad that Cassy had thought to contact my boss and explain my absence when I had not even thought of it and headed back upstairs to do as she suggested. I chose a few more outfits, trying to stick with the tough chic feel and put them in a bag, as well as my make up and hair straighteners, before heading back down. When I walked back into the dining room, breakfast was out on the table and Theo was filling a plate, obviously not thinking of staying as he strode around the table grabbing various sausages and bacon. He usually grabbed his meal and headed back to gate duty. I missed him at meal times, he was easy to talk to and not as in your face as Ste could be. He looked up, his eyes wondered up and down my body, taking every inch of me in, making me feel like his hands were on me again before he quickly looked away. He finished loading his plate and walked out, he arm grazing me as he passed making me silently gasp. It may have been an accident but my wolf loved the slight touch as he walked back outside to his solitude. I quickly recovered and retook my seat, loading my plate as I was unsure when my next dose of Jen's cooking would be. "Have you heard from Harrison?" Ste asked as he forked food into his mouth. "No, I don't expect I will." I sighed. "Ste!" snapped Cassy. "What a stupid question! I don't want that man's name uttered in my pack again." "Cassy, it's okay." I said in a calm tone, knowing it was the hormones talking and not her. "He found his mate, it happens. I can't blame him just as I am sure he wouldn't blame me if I found mine." I really didn't blame him, the radio silence stung yes, but I expected it really. He was probably too caught up in his mate to even think of contacting me anyway. "You are a better woman than I am." huffed Cassy as she stuffed food into her mouth like someone would snatch the plate away from her at any second. The conversation flowed easily after that, Cassy was in a good mood because someone had already been and bought more cheesy snacks for her. We moved to the living room after breakfast and relaxed like it was a normal lazy day, which I appreciated as it put my nerves at ease. "It is time." alpha Ash finally announced. I nodded and took a deep breath before I tried to push up off the sofa only to have Cassy practically jump on me. "Don't you dare get hurt." she said in a muffled voice as her head was buried in my hair her arms latched around me. "Hey, I am way too pretty to die young." I quipped back, making her smile with our usual banter. She let me go and I walked out with alpha Ash walking behind me. "Remember Sanna, you may not see us, but we see you. Go to the motel off the highway if no one approaches you in the mean time." I nodded as I picked up my two bags, one of clothes and one of info to put in the locker. I headed to my car putting the bags inside and set off slowly down the dirt path. As I got to the gate, Theo came out of his little hut. He walked over to the car and bent down so I wound down the window. "You don't have to do this Sanna. I don't want you to do this." he said in a stoic voice. "I know but I want to do this." I told him bluntly. "I will be fine, trust me." I smiled with a wink. Theo shook his head and muttered something under his breath as he walked back to the hut and pressed the button to open the gate. I drove through, one of the pack jeeps driving behind and continued on to the main road. I glanced in my rear view mirror and the jeep was gone. I recited alpha Ash's words in my head to reassure myself that even though I could not see them, they were still there. I drove to the train station and parked in the short term parking, before heading in and going straight to the lockers. I kept looking around me for signs of someone watching or following me. The station was busy, but everyone seemed to just be going about their business as always, no one stood out and no one seemed to be paying any attention to my actions. Luckily locker 123 was empty. I stuffed the info backpack into the locker and then locked it. I held the key in my hand as I turned and looked around again. Still no one seemed to care that I was there as they went about their day. I walked back to the exit, being sure to drop the locker key into the plant pot and head back to my car. I got in and looked around again. Still no one seemed to be following and I could not see the pack anywhere. I took a few deep breaths trying to calm the nervous that started to bubble up inside me. It was like when you are watching a horror film and you know that someone is about to jump out but you don't know when or where from. I turned on the engine, pulling out and heading towards the motel. It was smart that I didn't go back to the pack for a while, if I was them, I would follow whoever I hired to make sure they were legit too. The roads were busy as traffic streamed in both directions. I was sure if someone was following me they would have lost me as I weaved in and out of the traffic. I pulled up in the motel car park. This place was a dive, the sign only had a few letters that still lit up and the paint on the door frames and window sills was peeling and chipped. I jumped out and grabbed my bag of clothes, heading to the reception. As I walked in the guy behind the counter looked over and raised his brows as he took in my appearance. "I need a room." I stated, trying for a bored tone at his assessment of me. "A room for one, or for two sexy?" he asked with a sleazy wink that made my skin crawl. "One." I hissed out. "I need it for three days." "Fair enough. Most of my clientele only need it for the night if you know what I mean." eww, I would have to wash the sheets in bleach to be able to get a good night's sleep knowing that. I tried to keep my expression neutral, unsure if they had CCTV or if I was being watched. "Okay that will be $120." I handed him the money. "I need to see some ID." he said as he took a key off the line of hooks behind the desk. Shit! I couldn't show my ID, that would give the whole game away. I pulled another $200 form the money alpha Ash had given me and leaned across the counter slightly. "How about we forget about the ID?" I said as I slid the money over the counter like I do this sort of thing all the time. The guys eyes went wide at the money and a smile spread across his face. "Very well, Megan Fox was it?" he said, winking again. "Whatever, I don't want to be disturbed, understand?" I grabbed the key from his hand and turned, not giving him a chance to response. I thought I came across as 'I don't give a s**t' when in reality I was completely 'I want to get out of here because you really creep me out'. I walked up the rusty metal stairs that led to the floor with my room on and walked in. It was just as depressing as I thought in here. The colour scheme was browns and yellow, the carpet faded and stained. There was a small round table with a chair, a chest of drawers with a small TV on it, the bed and a side table. Thankfully the bed was a single so I doubt this room was high up on the nightly affair register. I threw my bag in the bed and walked through to the bathroom. A toilet, skin and bathtub with a shower head that looked like it wouldn't even work with the amount of limescale on it. My house at my old pack was not perfect, the water heater always broke down and it needed a lot of repairs, but even that looked like a palace compared to this place. Maybe I had been spoilt with my room at the blood pack pack house. I sighed and went back to the main room, tentatively pulling at the covers to check for pubes and stains. I was surprised that they seemed clean and body part free. I grabbed the TV remote and sat down, flicking through the channels. Three days, I had to stay here for three days. I would obviously have to leave to get food but other than that I would be stuck here. My mind travelled again to Theo, his strong hands, his gentile touch. The way he brushed past me at breakfast, even if it was just an accident a girl could dream. Well, I may as well make myself at home. I stood up and slid off my leather boots and pants off before lying back on the bed, my mind on Theo. My hands travelled softly over my tights imagining that they were his strong hands, slowly making their way towards their goal.
