Chapter 5Nanook lets them into his office, and they sit down. He looks at Evan like he’s checking him over for injury, and Rene wonders what Nanook has heard about him, if Nanook knows any of his past—not everyone in town does. Damon did his best to keep things hush-hush, and for that Rene is grateful.
“We’ve had some test results.”
“What did you find? Nothing good by the look on your face.” Nanook frowns.
Evan tells Nanook what he told Rene in the guesthouse, and Nanook doesn’t look happy.
“We’ll have to test everywhere they’ve been, see if they’ve been in contact with some kind of toxin, in their houses, schools, everywhere,” Nanook says thoughtfully.
