Rene stops and stands, making no attempt to cover himself. “What is it?” Rene asks, but then he looks at Evan, and his scowl changes to something else. “Are you okay?”
“I just had a really bad feeling. It’s probably left over from having strange dreams, but I…It’s stupid. I just wanted to make sure you were okay,” Evan admits.
“You were concerned about me?” Rene sounds surprised.
“You’re kind of grouchy, but I don’t want anything bad to happen to you,” Evan admits, half-expecting to be laughed at.
Rene doesn’t laugh. He steps forward and puts a hand where Evan’s neck meets his shoulder, like maybe he’s offering comfort.
