How could he even ask me that question? We mated. I had enough of my own money and my family had more than enough. I didn’t need to scam someone to get money out of them! Tears formed in my eyes. I walked into the courtroom, followed by Jeffrey and the State’s Attorney. I was back on the stand in a couple of minutes and had to pull myself together.
“Will you excuse me for a moment? I need to speak to my aunt.” I just needed a moment.
“Your Highness, I don’t think you should, you are in the middle of testimony.” The prosecutor looked worried.
“I will take the chance. She isn’t involved in any way.” I sighed. He nodded, and I walked over to aunt Meg who was holding out her arms, immediately seeing the state I was in.
