Leia - POV
"When does the meeting start?" Mr. Kai asked.
"In five minutes," I replied promptly, breaking Mr. Xavier's stern expression.
"Why don't you leave the room until we need to speak with Vincent?" Mr.Kai added. Fear lingered as I stepped outside, but I kept a close ear to what they discussed. Both CEOs only spoke about business and avoided any personal matters.
The meeting about the companies' merger was chaotic, and the negotiations continued. My headache persisted throughout the meeting, and I felt anxious, triggering my migraine. It was hard to keep myself focused. I frequently noticed that Mr. Kai and Mr. Xavier gazed at me with stern faces. I tried not to be intimidated by their stares. At the end of the meeting, Vincent gave me a sympathetic look, and we went to get some coffee.
"You looked like a scaredy-cat in the meeting, Leia. Next time, handle the meeting like a roaring lioness," Vincent joked, trying to lighten the mood. I rolled my eyes at his attempt, and he sighed, seeing my broody face.
"Daisy told you about Alpha's reason for coming to our office today," Vincent asked, and I nodded. Looking around, I noticed that the scent of the Alphas was not detectable, which meant they had left the building.
"We can't keep this under wraps," I said. "If the Alphas discover my background, you, Daisy, and I will be in trouble."
"I hid your background if Alphas did a background check on you," Vincent replied calmly. I looked at him in surprise but couldn't ask him questions because I had many buzzing thoughts in my head.
"Take aspirin, will you? I think you have a migraine." Vincent said as he worked behind his desk. I nodded and left for home after a hectic day. Daisy had messaged me to meet for dinner, but I declined as I needed time alone to process.
I tried to recall what happened in the Blackmoon Pack, why my father was kicked out, and why the Bluewood Pack called him a traitor. It was all blank to me. I asked my dad about this and why I couldn't recall my mother's and my childhood memories or any of the Black Moon Pack moments. He told me I had lost my memories in an accident and would regain them soon.
Wait, my dad locked some stored albums in a box. I decided to look through his belongings. I found the old wooden box and tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge. I used a hammer to break the lock, but it remained still.
"Come on, open up," I hissed, exerting all my strength with no success. Feeling frustrated, I lay on my bed, tossing and turning as the stern gazes of both Alphas haunted me. I got up to grab a glass of water.
Walking past the table, I heard a clicking sound and turned to see the wooden box open automatically. I rubbed my eyes to ensure I didn't imagine things; the lock was broken. Inside the box was an old photograph of my parent's wedding.
My mother looked beautiful in her wedding gown, and I couldn't take my eyes off her. The photo also featured another woman who seemed to be a close friend of my mother's, and standing next to my father was a man who resembled Alpha Reo of the Blackmoon pack. The woman next to him must have been Luna Sia.
As I browsed through the other photos, I suddenly felt weak in my knees. The photo in my hand shook me to the core. It showed me as a child, standing between two young boys who looked like Alpha Xavier and Alpha Kai, smiling at me. I noticed a tag below the photograph that read "My stepbrothers," written in my handwriting.
"No, no, no," I muttered, unable to believe what I saw. "That means those Alphas knew me and didn't say a word. Do Vincent and Daisy know about this, too?"
I called Daisy and Vincent, but their phones went straight to voicemail.
I quickly put on my coat and shoes and ran to their penthouse. My heart was pounding as I caught the scent of Alpha in the air. I stood before the entrance, fidgeting with my phone and pacing back and forth.
Should I go up and help Vincent and Daisy, who might be in danger from these alphas?
But what could I do to protect them? I was just a wolfless woman with knowledge of the wolf community. Maybe I should just run away and find a new job. After all, Vincent and Daisy were werewolves who could defend themselves.
"s**t, what kind of pathetic creature am I, leaving my friends in danger when they're only trying to save me?" I hissed. The guards looked at me suspiciously before allowing me to enter the building.
As the elevator went up, my heart raced with worry. When I reached Vincent's penthouse, I knocked on the door with a labored breath. Kai answered, and I yelled his name instead of his surname. He raised an eyebrow, and I gulped as his gaze settled on me.
"Where is Vincent?" I demanded sternly.
"Leia." Vincent came forward as Kai stepped aside. When he saw my condition, he looked concerned.
"Daisy, come here," Vincent said, and Daisy led me into her home. Walking in, I noticed Alpha Xavier sitting comfortably on the sofa, staring at me. The situation was worsening, and I felt terrified and intrigued by the Alphas' attention on me.
"What happened to you, Leia?" Daisy asked. I stared at her face numbly, not knowing what to say. Or was this just a nightmare?
"You both knew who I was from the start," I asked, looking at Vincent and Daisy, who exchanged glances before turning back to me.
"Did you get your memories back?" I looked at the unfamiliar voice; it belonged to Alpha Xavier. He stood up as he approached me, but I moved away, and he stopped.
"No... I saw these photos." I showed them. I didn't want to answer, but my mouth worked faster than my brain could muster to play with my wits. I leaned against the wall to support my quivering legs, which shivered from fear, and I felt hurt because Daisy and Vincent had been lying to me for five years.
"You lied to me, Vincent. When did you learn this?" I whispered.
"I'm sorry, Leia. I learned from Alpha Xavier when he saw your picture on employee of the year photo. Alpha Xavier told me you were their stepsister and to keep a close eye on you, and I only told Daisy the truth today. She didn't know before." Tears streamed down my face.
"What do you want from me, Alphas?" I stared at Alpha Xavier and Alpha Kai. They gawked at me, and there was no emotion in their expressions for me to read through my blurry vision.
"Why don't you take a seat?" Daisy spoke cautiously, with a sad gleam in her gaze. She approached, but I swatted her hand away.
"Don't touch me," I hissed.
"Leia, we've both been looking for you for years," Alpha Kai added.
"What for, to kill me too? You've already driven my father to his death. He missed the Blackmoon Pack until his last breath. I don't know why he acted like that or what happened to my mother and me," I said resentfully.
"Did you forget you used to call us brothers?" Alpha Kai replied, this time with pain laced in his tone.
"If I remembered everything, why would I stand here and ask for the missing piece of memory?" I snapped. Alpha Kai's eyes turned different colors as the wolf peered at me. I gulped with fear, and my legs gave out as I collapsed.
"You are our stepsister, but I don't think you feel what we both feel—the attraction towards you, Kai, and me. We both can't resist you," Alpha Xavier said in a whisper. My eyes turned blurry, and though I tried to push the dizziness away, my efforts were in vain as the vision faded.
