SHE IS MY MATE

Kevin’s P.O.V.

I didn’t know why Betty lied to me when I could clearly smell a different smell on her. I knew this smell. How many times I told him to stay away as it could be dangerous for both of us and Betty. She didn’t know a thing about us and I didn’t want any danger for my mate. I rushed back to the home and found Vincent in the living room. He looked at my angry state and raised his brows. Vincent was of my age and my future gamma. Nash, I and Vincent were childhood friends and invincible when together. We were so well synchronized with each other that we even could predict other’s moves without being told.

“What’s wrong?” Vincent asked me while standing up from the couch where he was lying before. “Where is Remus?” I asked him instead of answering him. “He is in the kitchen”, he informed me while eyeing me suspiciously. I stormed towards the kitchen with Vincent on my tail. Wait, Kevin… what happened?” he asked yelled at me but I didn’t listen to him.

I found Remus, my biological uncle and my father’s beta, preparing our meal with Nash. They both looked at us behind them and moved towards us. “What’s wrong?” Remus asked me while looking at me in confusion. “Is Betty okay?” Nash asked straight behind him in a worried tone. “He came here a few minutes ago”, I didn’t answer any of them and told them in a cold tone.

Both Nash and Vincent gasped in horror and Remus sighed aloud and ran his fingers through his dirty brown hairs. “I am going to look for him and you”, he pointed towards me. “Stay with Betty and don’t let her leave alone even for a second”, Remus instructed me while removing the apron from his body. I nodded and looked at Vincent. “Secure the parameter and deliver the lunch at Betty’s home when it’s ready. Her aunt is not at home again”, I told him and he nodded.

“Where is Maria again?” I looked at my uncle annoyingly. Remus had lost his mate a few years ago during a rogue attack. Our pack faced a huge loss and damage in that attack. After that, my father sent me, Nash and Vincent with Remus here in this city. After two years, I noticed that Remus was attracted to Maria and they were in a relationship for more than 7 years now. Remus was however not happy with her nursing job as she needed to do more double shifts and had to stay away from home a bit longer. Remus was thinking to make Maria his chosen mate but was afraid because she was human and didn't have any idea about our race and the danger lurking around us.

“You know where she can be? I am going back to Betty as she was alone right now”, I told him and immediately ran towards Betty’s house again. She was not in a danger yet I was worried for her. I was sure that he would not harm her but….

I locked the door behind me and then checked the whole house for any kind of threat. I could still smell his scent in the backyard. It was really strong there. I looked towards the tree line a little far from Betty’s house and narrowed my eyes. I didn’t sense anyone here. He must flee off by now. I closed the door and locked it securely.

I went upstairs and smiled while looking at her sleeping figure. She was snoring softly while sleeping like a baby on her bed. She always slept like this. I stripped off my shirt and lay down near her on the bed. I covered her with the quilt as the weather was a bit cold tonight. She flipped her side and wrapped her hand around my waist causing sparks to flow all over my body. She snuggled into me as I wrapped my hand around her waist. Her intoxicating scent of honey with vanilla mix was making my mind go frenzy. I wanted her so badly and it was really hard to resist her. I didn't know how long I was able to resist the mate pull towards her. My father once asked me to reject her because she was human but I clearly refused. There was no way that I was going to refuse my fated mate. The Moon Goddess had chosen her for me and I was not going to deny The Moon Goddess gift at any cost.

“Why are you so late?” she complained in her sleep and I smiled at her. She used to sleep with me like this since we were kids. I clearly remembered the first night that I spent with her 13 years ago. It was my second month in this neighbourhood. One night, I was woken up by a shrill cry of a child that was coming from her room. I came here with Remus to check on her. We already knew that Maria often worked a double shift and Betty stayed alone.

She was shivering hard due to the nightmare that she was having at that time. I immediately climbed up her bed and lay down near her. I had this possessiveness since the first day and after my 18th birthday two months ago, I was confirmed that she was my mate. Back then, she immediately snuggled into me and got relaxed. Remus stayed with us the whole night. She slept peacefully and that was when Remus concluded that she might be my mate. I was happy when on my eighteenth birthday my wolf confirmed her as my mate.

She whimpered softly while nudging into my chest that took me out of my thoughts. I wrapped my hands around her shoulder and she put her knee in between my knees making her comfortable with my body. I sighed and covered both of us with the duvet. She didn't know how much her closeness affected me. I knew that she also had a crush on me and she felt hurt whenever she saw me with any other girl than her. I couldn't tell her how much I suffered that time. She was mine but I couldn't claim her because of the danger lurking around me. I couldn't put her life in danger.

"I brought your dinner", I halted in my thoughts when I got a  mind link from Nash. "I am coming", I said to him and looked at the sleeping figure beside me. I tried to free myself from her grip but she immediately protested in her sleep and tightened her grip on me. "Betty... let me go. Nash is here with food", I said to her and immediately she loosened her grip on me. I smiled while shaking my head. Betty was not like other girls who worried about her figure and choose to eat less. On the contrary, she loved every kind of food.

She could even eat in her sleep. I tucked her inside the duvet and left the room. I went downstairs and opened the front gate where Nash was standing with our dinner. "Here", he handed me the boxes filled with food. "Thanks, bro", I said with a small smile on my face while taking the boxes from him. "Remus came back. He is nowhere to be found", Nash informed me and I nodded. "I will talk to my dad and him tomorrow", I said and he nodded. He then went back and I closed the door again. I locked it and went inside the kitchen.

I switched on the lights and put the boxes on the counter. I then brought the plates and bowl and filled them with the food that Nash brought for us. I put a water bottle also in the food tray and then headed upstairs to her room. I opened the door and went to the table near her bed. I put the food tray on the table and went near her. "Hey.... Betty... wake up... I brought the food for you", I said to her in a low but loving voice. She sat up immediately but didn't open her eyes. She sniffed and slowly opened her eyes.

"Remus prepared the dinner tonight?" she asked me in a groggy voice and I nodded with a smile. "I am hungry", she pouted and I laughed at her while taking the food tray from the table. She was now wide awake up and I knew the reason very well. She immediately devoured her food and moaned aloud making me feel uneasiness in my pants. She always did this in such an innocent way that I couldn't scold her. I wanted her to be mine and she would be mine in the future. She was my mate and there was no way that I was going to loose to any other male in this life span.
