CHAPTER 7

He wore a plain white shirt and a regular jean with his favorite vans. His hair was neatly done, he was ready for the dinner.     “Mom it’s time, are you ready yet? I don't wanna be late 'cause I don't think dad would like that." He shouted while heading downstairs.     “I’m right behind you sweetie, just fixing your sister’s hair!" She responded from the kitchen. He opened the door and outside was a limo with the door open. He was both surprised and nervous but after he felt his mom’s hand rest on his back, he got relieved and lead her towards the car. The man from the afternoon was standing beside the door holding it open. “Your father is waiting for you at the castle.” He said while shutting the door behind them.     The car soon stopped in front of the castles’ massive doors and like the man had said, his father was standing on the side waiting for them. He had some people around him, men and women he didn't recognize from anywhere, probably his father’s coworkers.     "Hey Dad what's going on?This huge dude came to the house today and said that all of us are invited to dinner. Isn't that a bit weird?"      “Yeah he's kinda my new boss and I guess he just wanted to be acquainted with everyone, but please do me a favor lad and make sure to speak only when spoken too. Ok?” He said while fixing his tie and hair.     Before answering, the castle doors opened and someone similar to the bulky man got out, giving them permission to enter. The castle halls were beautiful, the floors were so sparklingly clean you could see yourself in it. Paintings and sculptures were everywhere but no family pictures. Charles noticed Alberto's Giacometti's L'HOMME AU DOIGT which is about $141.3 million dollars worth. Also Damien's First sculpture FOR THE LOVE OF GOD which was produced in 2007. It was made of a platinum cast of an eighteenth century human skull encrusted with eight thousand, six hundred and one flawless diamonds including a pear shaped pink diamond located in the forehead which is known as the skull star diamond. Don’t get him wrong, he was not an art freak but he happened to know some of these.      They stopped in front of another huge door and he knew whatever was behind those doors would give him the answers he needed. Who were these people and how could they afford everything in there? Why would his family ever be invited to such place? The door opened with just a push by the guy escorting them, like it wasn't made out of metal or it didn't weigh anything.      The sight in front of them blew Charles’ mind. If he were to judge his mother’s cooking the other day, he’d be mocking himself! The dining table in front of him was more like a feast! The food was too much when they weren't even twenty people in total. Charles was the kind of person who hated wasting food so seeing that much plates scattered around meant that they either were going to be thrown or that they had to stuff themselves.      After they all settled around the table, he was finally able to scan through everyone in the room. Sitting at the table were moms or dads with their children, probably around his age. He really wasn't looking forward to know anyone so he just turned away from them and faced his dad instead. He noticed that the seat of the head of table was empty... weird.      They were all well behaved and awkwardly silent. After a few minutes, everyone turned their heads to the door that suddenly opened. Two middle aged man and woman made their way in. Everyone lowered their head down and avoided making eyes contact while there stood the outcasted human staring at them in curiosity wondering why they held such a strong auto around them. They were both extremely strong and looked super stern.      They walked to the table in all their glory. They look like a married couple. Charles thought. The man nodded and everyone sat down after them. He was able to take a good look at him. He had coal black hair with light brown skin. He wore a red and black suit that fitted his body perfectly, his wife wore a simple red gown that glued to her body and brought out her perfect figure. She was the most beautiful lady in the room Charles thought...next to his mother and Charlotte that is. For a second, he was going to think that the man’s eyes flew red, yet he knew his mind was probably playing tricks on him.     "Welcome and sorry for the delay, we had a few issues we had to take care of. Let's waste no more time and start eating before we can go straight to business." The man spoke in a deep voice, sending shivers down his spine.     Around half an hour later, everyone was done eating. The man cleared his throat and everyone was silent again. "Since we're done eating, I'll like to go straight to business. The kids will be escorted to a separate room where they can all bond and get to know each other. Everything we're about to do today is for their sake and future." He said while gesturing to the bulky guy to take us away.     The room we were taken to had lots of games and fun stuff generally. Charles bit the inside of his cheeks, nervous and feeling out of place. He stood in the corner of the room observing everyone. Most of the kids seemed to already know each other as they were all chatting and gaming. Nobody even noticed hip apart from a girl and a guy who were staring at him intensely. They had this look like they didn’t like him or something.      He was brought out of his world of thoughts when a random boy walked up to him introducing himself. At first, he wasn't really interested in making friends or anything but that one had a genuine, mischievous but friendly smile.      "Wassup dude, you're new here right? I figured since you smell different and you haven't been doing anything apart from studying everyone. My name is Alexander but you can call me Alex.” He said, extending his hand for a hand shake.      “Hey I'm Charles and yeah I kind of don't know what we’re suppose to do but seems like you all already figured that out and what's with those two standing over there?" He couldn’t help but ask.     "You're human. I knew it from the moment I saw you man. Your scent wasn't that strong until now though.” He said, surprising Charles. He wanted badly to ask him what the heck he was talking about but he knew he would look a little bit stupid for some reason.      “Alex, if Mr. Black is hosting this dinner why aren’t his kids here? Does he not have any?" He questioned. Alex frowned, looking like he did not want to give an answer, so he did like he knew them. Charles wondered how they looked like.      After almost two hours of talking and getting to know Alex better, Charles knew he was a good guy. Everyone was heading to their various destinations and in a few minutes they were also home. He tried asking his parents what the meeting was about but his father just squeezed his shoulder, smiled and left to his room with his mother.     He shrugged, having enough of that long weird day full of surprises and went to his room. Not even taking his shoes off, he fell asleep.     The next day was another school day but he couldn't stop thinking about how that night went. He also realized that her forgot to exchange numbers with Alex and was curious about those twins he kept talking about. He had a feeling he would meet them sooner than expected, guess time would tell...
