Stunning Woman

1050 Words
Lorenzo    Ava led us to the living room and I gestured to Aubrey to sit. I walked to the mini bar they had on the corner and served myself some whiskey.    “Do you want some?” I offered her and she shook her head.    “No, thank you. I don’t drink much, unless I am really nervous,” she replied and my lip twisted up in a smirk.    “And I don’t make you nervous? You drank a good amount of scotch back in the club,” I said as I sat next to her, scooting closer to her body. She was taking deep breaths and wouldn’t dare look at me.     I took a sip of my whiskey while not taking my eyes off her.    “No, you don’t. I don’t think you’re man enough to make me nervous,” she said and I grabbed her chin a little rough to turn her face towards me.    “Come on, Lorenzo. You know men don’t treat women like that, so take your hand off her face,” I had forgotten Ava was still in the living room with us.    “Where is Enzo?” I asked Ava, but still looking at Aubrey. I knew I was making her uncomfortable, but did I look like I cared?    “He’s at Luciano’s house conducting some business. It shouldn’t be long before he comes back. In the meantime, we can chat before I take her to try some clothes. I will call Piper in a bit.”    “Enzo?” I heard Aubrey ask.    “Yeah, it’s short for Vincenzo, but he never liked to be  called like that,” Ava replied. I took the last of the whiskey and stood up to look out the window with the empty glass in my hand.    “I had a brother called Vincenzo when I was a kid. We were separated when my parents passed away,” Aubrey said.    To hear that, made my heart ache. So many questions invaded my mind. When did they pass away? Will she ever find her brother? At what age was she put up for s*x s*****y? Amongst other things.    “So how did you meet Lorenzo?”     “It doesn’t matter how she met me. We came here to get her changed to more decent clothes,” I snapped.    Ava stood up and approached me before she slapped me on my arm.     “What the hell, Ava?”     “You don’t talk to me like that in my own house,” she said before taking Aubrey’s hand and walking out of the living room.     Not even an hour later, Piper walked in and she looked at me with her eyebrows raised.    “Where is your lovely lady?” She asked, making me scoff.    “She’s not my lady. And she’s with Ava in the kitchen, I think,” I replied, sitting on the couch. She walked away and I stayed there with my thoughts.     Saving those girls was the least I could do. The past haunts me like a ghost in an old house, and I was never able to get over it.     It was a secret I have kept to myself all these years and not even Nolan being my right hand man, knows. I walked outside and took a whiff of my cigar to calm my anger out.     “Lorenzo, it is not safe to be out here,” Nolan said, standing behind me.     “It’s okay, Nolan. It’s not like a good life will be wasted. Did the girls finally take Aubrey to the room to try on clothes?” I asked and he nodded as he stood right next to me.    “May I ask what’s bothering you?”     We were both looking at the distance, where Enzo and Ava had a small lake.     “You may ask, but it doesn’t mean I will answer. It’s something I rather keep to myself and no one will be able to spill it,” I replied, tapping the cigar and taking another whiff.     We stayed there in silence and all I could hear was the sound of the birds singing on the trees, like a damn Disney movie.     “Sometimes doing something good for someone, triggers other things,” was the only thing I told him before I dumped the end of the cigar on the floor and stepped on it to put it out.     “I understand. If you ever need to talk, I am here,” he said and I patted his shoulder before going back in.    A few hours had passed and they were still not ready. I checked my watch, losing my patience. It was getting way too late already. Enzo walked in and he was shocked to see me here.    “What are you doing here?” He asked, dropping his jacket on the couch.    “Is this how you treat the person that helped you get rid of Ethan?”    “Just because you helped my wife, doesn’t mean I like you,” He said. I raised my hands and understood his meaning very well.    “Your wife seems to trust me. I asked her for some help and she said yes without hesitation,” I loved making fun of him, and suddenly he took me by the collar of my jacket, giving me a menacing stare.    “Easy, this is one expensive piece of clothing.”     “You listen to me. I don’t want my wife dealing with you, okay?”    “Enzo!” Ava called from the doorway and he let me go right away, “behave. He’s here because he needed help for his friend.”    Enzo looked at me and scoffed as he walked out of the room. Ava shook her head and approached me.     “Are you ready to see her?”     I nodded and I saw Piper appear with Aubrey right behind her. To say she was stunning was an understatement. They had put her in a blue long summer dress with a slit on the side.     “So, what do you think?” Piper asked and I didn’t know what to say.    “She looks...okay,” was all I could muster. What the hell is wrong with me? This woman could not be affecting me with only hours of meeting her. There was a s****l attraction, nothing more.    “Seriously, Lorenzo? We tried to make her pretty for you and that’s all you can say?”    “She’s not pretty for me. She is pretty for herself,” I said as I grabbed her elbow and walked out.     “You know? You are a very ungrateful asshole,” Piper said as she followed us, “I should probably shoot you here.”    “Is it all about shooting with you? You are a very violent woman,” I said, but all she did was cross her arms on her chest, and I just ignored her and helped Aubrey inside the car.     Couldn’t wait to get out of here.
